where my husband works, I was at a BBQ having great ribs made by a Hungarian...drinking beer and wine...on a most awesome sunny day. It's a holiday here, and it was our farewell (we leave this summer). I listen to planes flying over my house yesterday, and they were so low I thought we were being bombed. This early evening, I watch the planes fly over my house again...not thinking I was being bombed
That's how I spent my day with donnie two scoops here in Belgium..tell me, did anything bad happen?

(1,788 posts)It does seem to be a lot better than here. I've lived in 3 other countries outside the US, and Belgium has been the hardest...and I live in Japan. Belgium drivers...OMG there is nothing I can say, they are all crazy. And renting a place here...landlords don't have to fix anything. We have water leaks, told the landlord and he has done nothing. I don't think this would have happened in Germany. Belgium is just strange...and yet I like it here because It's a great starting point to travel...but this summer I move back to the US and I know I will look back at these days in a great light...just like I've done with every place I've lived.

(4,138 posts)My family lived in Brussels through most of the 90s (I was in college at the time, so only spent summers there). It's true - Belgians give Canadians a run for their money in terms of courteous neighborliness. Until you put them behind the wheel of a car, at which point they completely lose their minds.
