Even paranoids have enemies.

Or am I just paranoid?

Is it as bad as I perceive it to be? Or is it worse?

I am paranoid about the direction we are headed. I don't see anyone that is capable of fixing the problem?

I fear our democracy will be much worse off, if not extinct, by the time this reign of Republicans is over?

Any words of encouragement?

the threat to democracy of this era. These go in cycles, becoming worse every time since WW1.

There are two potential paths our culture can explore: the first, as you note, leads rapidly to the loss of our constitutional democracy; the second leads, at a slower pace, towards reviving that same constitutional democracy.

There will not be -- nor can there be -- a single "leader" that saves us. Rather, it will require a large group effort.

I am confident in the future.
