However, Orange Dumpster is a classic narcissist and it could be just a completely flat affect when he's not in the spotlight, which is why so many pictures of him with other leaders feature it. He could just as easily be zoned out.

I watched my grandmother spiral down. In the early stages, if she stayed in places she knew, with familiar people, and nothing unusual or beyond her regular competencies -- she'd be okay. Maybe have a few "senior moments" but she coped.

Make her travel? Put her in a new environment? Make her deal with technology newer than 1990? She'd flounder and flail and get lost. Even a couple of short sleep nights would unwind her for a couple days.

A 9 day trip across 8 time zones? There's no way this doesn't exacerbate underlying problems.

So why not feign losing touch with reality when the walls start closing in on him? Above all, he wants to maintain the love and adoration he believes he deserves. So now that things are falling apart, he will do ANYTHING to hold on to the position and wiggle out of responsibility for his crimes.

On the other hand, there is a case to be made that the symptoms of dementia that have been observed by many are real and his loss of cognitive functioning is happening.

If he attempts to use dementia or diminished capacity as a defense, he should be observed and tested in as many ways that are known to establish that it is true and not a ruse. And if true, he should be held in a locked facility....for his own good and good of the rest of us. He has already caused plenty of harm. If it is not true, the trials should begin immediately for the multiple crimes connected to him. Like Next week. Take him into custody as he walks across the tarmac when he returns from his trip.
