It's not a back channel. It's a SECRET back channel...

All I've heard is "nothing wrong with a back channel". And "we've done it a lot".

Sure, okay with that. But this is SECRET and with known Russian spies to boot.

The only reason for that is he wanted to talk to Putin without being known. Sneak Kislyak into Trump Tower to tell him you want to start sneaking into the Russian embassy. No.. nothing to see here at all.

Not only was it going to be a secret back channel -
It was going to be in the Russian embassy
It was going to be done before the inauguration

In the reality-based universe, this would be called treason.
