Trump Exempts Entire Senior Staff From White House Ethics Rules

http://www.thedailybeast.com/trump-exempts-entire-senior-staff-from-white-house-ethics-rules

President Donald Trump has exempted his entire senior staff from provisions of his own ethics rules to allow them to work with political and advocacy groups that support the administration.

Staffers given a pass on those rules include White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, who has the green light to communicate and meet with “political, advocacy, trade, or non-profit organizations” that formerly employed her consulting firm, despite ethics rules that would otherwise bar work with former clients.

Chief White House strategist Steve Bannon also received a waiver to the rules as part of a blanket exemption for all White House appointees allowing them to communicate with the press. His reported discussions with former colleagues at the pro-Trump site Breitbart News, which Bannon chaired until last year, had raised red flags among ethics watchdogs.

Bannon and Conway will both be free to work with a network of political groups backed by the wealthy Mercer family, which was integral to Trump’s victory last year and continues to support his agenda as president.

...

“We now know who was given a waiver from their WH ethics pledge,” wrote the left-leaning group Citizens for Responsibility in Washington on Twitter. “Looks like the end of the drain the swamp illusion.”

This is not surprising. They are in a fight for their lives, and anything goes. Watch out for some heinous overstepping of bounds.

Just like every single campaign promise he ran on. I can't see how he won't continue to shed supporters. I know his hard-core base is nuts and beyond redemption, but anything outside of that tier should be absolutely appalled by a complete and total lack of ethical behavior.

If they were smart or good at critical thinking, they wouldn't have been supporters to begin with. The same hate and fear that made them vote for Trump makes it almost impossible to admit having made a mistake.

never seem to have the courage to enforce the ethics rules they are supposed to no matter how seemingly flagrant the abuse is. What then is the point of even having ethic rules? Just make it so every corrupt politician and especially ethically challenged cabinet members can do as they please. That is what we now have and we certainly will pay a terrible price in the future

What are they doing anyway? If everyone is exempt then we don't really even need ethics rules or an ethics commission. I think Trump is doing this because his entire staff wants to quit now. He can't even get anyone to work for him.

What a chump. So indicative of the entire Republican Party. May they all rot in hell.

Hillary still hasn't slunk away and still has the nerve to speak out! See how much worse it would have gone with her in there. She refuses to disappear quietly. Trump and his fellow "winners" have a right to defend themselves in whatever way they can.

It's so in-the-face of the country. A "this is the way it is, because I say so. What are you gonna do about it?"

Congress needs to do something about it. But they are waiting for their tax cuts.

What has our country become?

"Trump's ethics pledge, contained in an executive order, came along with promises that he would 'drain the swamp' of the Washington influence industry."

He is only a comedian who is not really funny nor is he important as what people are making of his bad behavior.

We need to pay focus our efforts on what is happening in DC, Maher can't hurt us, but what is going on there is disastrous to the well-being of our country.

Fuck Maher and remove Trump!!!
