http://americannewsx.com/humor/maher-dems-new-motto/The problem, as the HBO host sees it, is that Democrats are simply too nice. They care too much about what people might think. Republicans, by contrast simply dont care. Its not just what happened in Montana. Mitch McConnell, as Maher points, didnt care how it looked when he blocked President Obamas Supreme Court pick for over a year. No, he did it for the same reason a dog licks his balls, Maher said: Because he can.
Republicans dont seem to care how it looks that they were the ones accusing the Democrats of being soft on the Russians and now have a President that isnt just soft but hard for them.
But Democrats are so reserving of judgment on Russia when Trump has done things that if it were Obama or Hillary Clinton, theyd be burning the White House down. When Republicans go low they win elections, Maher remarked.

While a lot of us won't be able to do that for a wide range of reasons, we need more of us that will - and that includes those in positions of power.
This is not a period where we can be polite and hope that our institutions will save us because said institutions are being broken apart.
And this is a period where "our leader" remains quite isolated and kept safe from outside views "in the real world", hence his approved rallies and the like.
We need more people willing to risk their political careers and make clear that's what going on is not normal. And you cannot do that by explaining it when you get airtime these days in the same way you've explained things for the last few decades on talk shows and the like.

(6,402 posts)We do this after every republican administration runs the country into the ground in some way. Clinton came in to fix after 12 years of reagan and bush. Obama after eight of bush and his disasters. We go and be responsible.
Now is the time to start disciplining these children and their foolish ways.

(17,019 posts)as long as everyone is playing by the same rules and it's glaringly obvious the repubs are not. The truth is everyone acts on their feelings, not their thoughts. We all know what we need to do to have a healthy, financially secure life yet how many eat right, exercise daily and save money. We have the information yet, "I'm tired, I don't feel like going to the gym", "I really, really want that triple scoop ice-cream Sunday" and "I have to have that _____________ I'll double up on my savings next paycheck." The biggest difference between us and trumpsters, IMO, is we feel good taking advice from those we see as experts. We respect the scientific method and feel good about the information it provides. Providing information to Twitler's follower's won't get them to change their minds but neither will looking like a bunch of wimps. Maybe, just maybe, playing hardball will.
