The investigation is following the money. There is no way they could do a through investigation without the tax returns of all the people involved. It was reported the special council has the power to subpoena tax returns. Hopefully they will find something.
It is key that the democrats win back the house in 2018. If trump is found guilty of obstruction of justice we cannot count on the republicans to do the right thing. I believe trump has already admitted guilt to obstruction of justice. Trump cannot be convicted of a crime. He can be impeached. The people around him can be convicted of a crime. I believe Flynn, Manafort and his asshole son in law are looking at some prison time. The AG could be trouble. Perjury.
The 2018 election is the key in my opinion. If the democrats take control of the house and the special counsel nails trump, we can stop the destruction of our country and our lives.
Best case, we can get rid of trump early 2019. I may lose my mind by then.

(30,761 posts)The repiggies are so corrupt, that would not surprise me. There are plenty of state crimes he can be charged with, regardless.
I hope we can take it in 2018. That will not be easy. There is so much voter repression, vote switching, out and out cheating that it will be difficult. And there are still many people who will vote for anyone with an 'R' after their name. We can't give up if we don't win majorities in 2018. It may take more time. We can't stop investigating, either.
I am seeing a lot of activity at the state and local level. People are coming out to protest, meet, vote, educate each other, you name it. The grassroots organizations are doing well. I hope most of them are cooperating with their local and state central committees. But I am seeing people getting active where they never have before. When Obama ran, there was a lot of activity in my state, but I live in Illinois, and we are proud of him here.
I went to a five county JFK dinner on Thursday night. It had the biggest turnout it has had in the five years of its existence. If it gets any bigger, we will need another venue. There are lots of candidates, too, for offices that have gone uncontested in the past. Most of the candidates showed up Thursday night.
We have anger and frustration at the state level, too. Our billionaire repub governor didn't win his office by much. We are going into our third year without a budget because he wants to break organized labor in our state. We will get rid of him.
We can't give up. GOTV.
