The last "secret" of the 1967 Arab-Israeli war

This is an article from today's New York Times about one of Israel's generals who was part of a secret plan during the Six-Day War. One of the worst-kept international secrets is that Israel is a nuclear power. During that conflict 50 years ago, Israel's political and military leaders had a last-ditch plan, in the event they were going to lose the conflict, to detonate a nuclear bomb on a mountain top as a demonstration and warning of their power.

Obviously, the weapon was never used. But, far too often, the 1960's saw the threat of the use nuclear weapons. This is another tale from that dangerous time.
