With the debate on Single Payer going on in California, what needs to be made very clear to those

who have expressed concern that taxes will be used to pay for this. The tax would replace the premiums people now pay the insurance companies, deducted from their paychecks, and subsidized by employers. It would be the same coverage to everyone, no matter how they make a living, how old or how healthy they are, no pre-existing conditions exclusions, high-risk pools, tax credits, etc.

It is an insurance program like Medicare

no answers to how this would deal with Federal coverages, like VA, Medicare, Indian Health Service and others.

There are also interstate union health care deals that might have to be dealt with. And state, county, and municipal coverages.

With single payer the State can negotiate prices. And CEO's will not be paid many millions of dollars.

Costs will be more direct and even seem higher than now. That's because bankruptcy costs show up elsewhere. Credit card interest rates could drop.

If you earn more, regardless of age, you pay more for health coverage correct? No matter if you are in some special group that already receives health care in some other manner (employed with benefits, retired with benefits, married with someone with benefits, child of someone with benefits, Medixxxx) And government employees like Jerry Brown would get the same health care as anyone else, be they a CEO of a tech company or a recent immigrant?

So, does that mean those with employer paid insurance will get a pay increase equal to current premiums?

Same for retirees, pensions should go up to compensate
