He holds grudges for years, decades even over a perceived slight.
Shortly after he was elected in 2016, London's Mayor Khan criticized Trump's comments and proposed policies towards Muslims:

Malignant narcissists do what malignant narcissists do. All empathy and proper etiquette gets thrown out the window.
He'll only double down on his attacks on Mayor Khan. No doubt about it. It's his very nature.

Pulling out of the Paris Accord was a given. He doesn't understand the science and would never be seen as a leader in that group so he left. He's the kid who doesn't get picked for quarterback so he takes his football and goes home where he plots getting even with those who didn't pick him. He's never going to change. It's who he is.

(10,053 posts)He is so petty and unable to let go of grudges, even the SMALL ones.
I remember reading an article where the editor of Vanity Fair said that Trumpy has been sending him pictures of his hands (he literally circles his hands in the photos) for over 25 years because he once called him a "short fingered vulgarian".

(37,428 posts)Every impotent little voter, blithely ignorant of the way the real world works but knowing that it's not working well for him/her, instantly recognizes his bigoted, cruel gut reactions to events, and is glad that someone gets to say those things out loud and be celebrated.
He is exactly as small and pathetic as we are, deep down under whatever maturity and empathy we've developed. In that sense, he really is Everyman.
And that is why he is such a fuck-up.
