BLITZER: Do you have a problem -- he says that you send -- you and your campaign I assume he means, someone to videotape all of his speaking engagements to watch him wherever he goes. Is that an issue as far as you're concerned?
BLITZER: Are you willing, Tammy, to come on our show and debate him directly?
BLITZER: We would love to invite you and Mr. Walsh to come on and do a good serious substantive debate, no name-calling, no nasty words on either sides. Just the substantive important issues I think that our viewers would be very happy to see that.
BLITZER: I agree that the differences on substantive policy issues are what the two of you should be debating about. He's used some nasty words. But you've also suggested among other things that Walsh is an extremist loud mouth for the Tea Party. Back in April, you said there's not a crack pot Tea Party idea that he hasn't embraced. Is that appropriate to use that kind of language against the sitting United States congressman?

(12,336 posts)He (walsh) is an extremist loud mouthfor the tea party. So why not "use that kind of language against the sitting congressman"?
And one more thing, I predict that walsh wants nothing to do with a debate against Tammy Duckworth. She'd likely wipe the floor with him.

(17,609 posts)and I was waiting and hoping she didn't back down. Blitzer loves to attack Dems and tries to demand that they explain and apologize for their words.
I remember an interview with Blitz and Cheney and Blitz was apologizing all over himself..

(21,925 posts)And what evidence does Mr. Blister have of Joe Walsh's willingness or capability to engage in a "good serious substantive debate"? He acts like Walsh didn't go on the air and interrupt and obstruct his colleague 90+ times to prevent her from engaging in a "good serious substantive debate". Is Blister willing to cut Walsh's mike if all he does is start saying "Tammy-Tammy-Tammy-Tammy-Tammy-Tammy-Tammy-Tammy-Tammy". Shouldn't Blister first ask for apologies from Walsh over the treatment of his journalistic colleague and sworn assurances from Walsh that he'll behave like a civilized human being?

(43,049 posts)I mean REALLY pisses me off...
It's looking at an interview like this through a very foggy lens. If you want to hate Blitzer, just take a few of his words and harp on them.
Here's another way to look at it...
First, he acknowledges that Walsh took the first shot and that there are significant policy differences between the two of them, even inviting them to a debate on his show. Anything partisan, rightwing, or anti-Duckworth about that?
Then, he asks a question a lot of people are asking. Just asks the question. There really are people out there who think Duckworth was wrong in calling Walsh out. And then, even better than just getting it out in the open, he gives her the time to get out a great answer.
Far from attacking her, he was doing exactly what journalism is about-- giving her a fair forum to say her piece, and she most likely benefited from it. Fox assholes, btw, would have cut the interview short to make her look bad.
But, hey, continue on bitching and moaning through those blinders if it feels good.
(And people wonder why we lose so often...)

(55,981 posts)"Then, he asks a question a lot of people are asking." Maybe a lot of RepubliCons. He is the spokesperson for the republiCon party.
Blitzer implied that they just differed on issues. He ignored the fact that Walsh disparaged her as a person.
She should not debate the asshole unless he apologizes.
You say that people "out there" that think she was wrong to call Walsh out. What people "out there"? And how did you find that out? And plez tell us what you mean by her "calling him out".
The reason my side loses is because our tent is too big and people crawled in that think Blitzer and CNN are okey-fuckin-dokey.

(43,049 posts)you still gotta waste all these electrons attacking Blitzer. And me, for good measure.
Blitzer's got his job, and will keep it for the foreseeable future. The trick is to use whatever comes out of that show to our advantage, and playing up Duckworth's reply would do that just fine.
But noooo... Better to make childish attacks on Blitzer that do nothing.
And that's why we lose-- too many of us do dumb shit that makes us feel good instead of things that work.

(55,981 posts)right-wing hack and should be called out at every opportunity. How sad that we have sunk to such a low that some will, not only accept him, but defend him as a journalist.

Wolf Blitzer was a writer for the Jerusalem Post and penned an article defending New Hampshires own political activist Max Hugel, whose forced departure from the CIA caused controversy in 1981. Blitzers 1984 article ends by suggesting the CIA should be investigated for anti Semitism. The irony is that in 1984, Jonathan Pollard was a Jewish spy for Israel and passing secrets from his post as an analyst for Naval Intelligence before he was arrested by the CIA in 1985.
In 1984, Hugel was involved with the founders of the Washington Times. Through the years the Washington Times has published articles in support of Pollard.
In 1989 Wolf Blitzer wrote a book titled "Territory of Lies" about Jonathan Pollard. Robert Friedman (NY review of books) was critical of it in a book review. In response to Wolf Blitzers objections to the review, Friedman accused Wolf Blitzer of sympathies to Netanyahu and Blitzers former employer the American Israeli Political Action Committee (AIPAC) .
In 1999 Bill Clinton was going to pardon Pollard in order to get concessions from Israel concerning the Middle East peace plan but George Tenant the head of the CIA threatened to resign if he did. Several months ago Netanyahu proclaimed that if elected he will win Jonathan Pollards release from prison.
In his recent book "The Capture Of Jonathan Pollard" Ronald Olive, a former Naval Intelligence official with first hand knowledge, is concerned that apologists for Pollards activities have muddied the waters over the years.

(21,925 posts)and swivel his hips down the flight deck of an aircraft carrier and stick out a giant sock-filled codpiece like that certain Chimp that Republicans idolized. Considering that Duckworth is a real veteran and every time Walsh thinks about waving an America flag and playing the patriot card, she spoils his fun just by comparison, he resents her for it.

Yes, it is perfectly acceptable to challenge an incumbent Congresscritter based on their beliefs. She has NEVER done this in a situation in which he was appearing in his official capacity.
I always felt like Wolfe boy was on drugs. He isn't' especially smart and a horrible journalist. He must have a picture of the CNN CEO having sex with another male (I'm sure the reich wing wouldn't care if he was doing it with a goat) so he keeps his job.
