There is little left to the Olympic ideal as it was re-originated back in the early part of the 20th century.

It is mostly now a craven vehicle for hawking products, services and propaganda.

The pretense of athletes as non-professional has been completely dropped -- they are flat-out professionals or are corporately sponsored.

The competition for hosting the games is wasteful of hundreds of millions of dollars and undoubtedly politically corrupted.

The nationalism, especially in the United States, has destroyed the ideal of the games as globally unifying.

One could go on and on.

In short, what it boils down to is that the Olympics is now more than ever all about big corporate business and politics.

And ... the video shows just how far removed from regular people and regular life this extravaganza of pageantry and advertising has become.

Just kidding.

It didn't look to me like the boys were trying to "snatch" the torch away.

It looks like they walked up to touch it and the holder handed to them briefly.
