A terrorist attacked a policeman with a hammer in Paris and was shot and all the cable news stations are covering it.
They want us to freak out.
If a nut attacked a cop with a hammer in any other mileu it would be a story for page eight.

(13,871 posts)He said over a hundred years ago: Give me 100 men totally dedicated to the cause and willing to die for it and I can overthrow any government on Earth.
He didn't mean that he could put his government in its place, merely that he could destroy the system that was in place. Now we have Great Britain saying we need to censor the internet, and Trump and his supporters saying we need to abandon the Constitution in order to keep ourselves safe from terrorism.
I agree with the OP; stories that would have never been noticed years ago now go straight to the endless Breaking New hysteria on cable.

(51,129 posts)If an "enemy" has a tactic we don't approve of it is terrorism. When we drop bombs on civilians it is not terrorism. Terrorism only describes the actions of "others" as we define others. Hence, it is a fallacious term at best.
