Bills don't just disappear. Much of it should have been expensed as charitable contributions. Not that it matters for him for taxes as he admittedly pays no taxes; but you know he has to take credit for everything and that is one way of you monetary gift being recorded.

My assumption. He started having a harder time finding disposable income. I don't believe this guy leveraged or solvent.

This is like an episode of The Sopranos. The dim son actually has a charitable impulse, and organised a genuine functioning, efficient charitable event. Then the father notices how much money is going through it, and steps in to take a piece of the action. And thus the best attempt by the son to get out from under the shadow of his corrupt father is squelched, and he's reeled back into the fetid swamp.
