Celebrates Ratings Surge

I had to upgrade my cable in order to get MSNBC; this is when Phil Donahue had his show.
Their lineup has changed so much from those days, but there are still a few rays of sunshine left (Joy, Rachel, Lawrence).
However, fuck their conservatives and fuck their "ratings surge".
Greta is un watchable -- she pretty much mumbles out of the side of her mouth which I find highly irritating. And she has ZERO credibility.
I also think Megyn Kelly is a lying witch.
All of those former Fox hosts can go jump in a lake. I outright REFUSE to watch them.

(12,322 posts)The conservatives your'e insisting on hiring are NOT the reason for the ratings surge.

(51,611 posts)then go for it MSNBC. You'll end up with advertisers pulling out and poor ratings. Ailes began Fox with this target area in mind; "white men 55 to death, sit on couch with a remote control, live in rural areas, uneducated, pro GOP, anti-elite, enjoy rage, etc." I read this in Daily KOS article yesterday.

(54,408 posts)Just hacks reading from a script because Fox Noise paid them to learn how to do it. Conservative? They don't know the meaning of the word, except in Republicanese. In English, "conservative" means cautious, risk-averse, in some cases "old-fashioned." A conservative has a look-before-you-leap or else a think-before-you-speak attitude--just like Barack Obama, for example, and the very OPPOSITE, by definition, of what today's right wing tools practice when they get to spout their garbage on TV.
In Republicanese, on the other hand, "conservative" means "nasty right wing Republican." But Republicanese is another language altogether. They have their own vocabulary (misunderestimate, ecolectic, and now covfefe), their own grammar (use an apostrophe to form a plural, which English does not. Always spell "lose" and "loose" the opposite way from how they are spelled in English), even their own rules of pronunciation (cut syllables out of words that have too many of them for comfort: e.g. English "liberal"= Republicanese "libbrul," English "conservative"=Republicanese "conservtive" .

(34,460 posts)errors you mention, too. Chris Matthews, for example, makes me cringe when he describes cuts to "Soshe 'Curity." He just can't spare the extra nanosecond required to pronounce all the syllables, I guess...

Let me tell you about how it was done when I worked for Reagan

(19,993 posts)One might guess that big advertisers like the Fox audience because in many cases they are older--meaning they tend to have more money to spend--and they generally spend more time staring at the teevee (consuming TV ads).

(19,993 posts)are probably hungrier than others to grow their viewer base. Growing their viewer base means going after viewers they don't already have. I think MSNBC has quite a few younger viewers already because of their prime time lineup.

(28,394 posts)Their new lineup certainly lacks diversity. We used to watch Rev. Al (daily, not one hour a week), MHP, Tamron Hall, and Joy every afternoon. Those were the days!
I can't stand the new people (all women, btw!) and switch channels or turn off the TV when they come on.
