I have an idea: Conservative entitlement mentality

You know how the right wing complained about the "entitlement mentality" of the Occupy movement or anyone who dared challenge capitalism a slight bit or bring up the very ideas that working people are being abused?

I saw that in the hysterical over-reaction to a white privilege awareness campaign, the "Un-fair campaign". Please upvote this comment i posted on the Youtube video of the PSA. Thanks to the video going viral among right wing sites the video has 400 likes and 8,000 dislikes. My comment was hidden due to "too many negative votes". Why? I actually spoke the truth:

Oh yeah? What about heavy metal concerts, St. Patrick's Day, Oktoberfest, various European-American heritage months/communities, the US Chamber of Commerce, the majority of TV channels/movies/scholarships/etc.? And are you not aware that whites have received the majority of pageant awards and scholarships, and remember the OUTRAGE when an Arab woman won a Miss USA contest a few years back? If that doesn't reek of privilege, I don't know how to reason with you.

Of course that Arab woman was 2010 Miss Michigan USA Rima Fakih. You know something is really rotten among the people when a host at Fox News (not Stormfront.org or such fringe kook sites) can actually blurt out on the morning show: "Did the Muslim-American win because of the whole PC society that we find ourselves living in?" Gretchen Carlson never faced any discipline for saying that (but what else would you expect from a network with a sleeping Standards & Practices department?) extremely bigoted sentiment...how could a MUSLIM woman win a beauty pageant traditionally won by the only truly beautiful class of women...white, Christian, chaste women? HOW???? (But I thought conservatives argued that affirmative action, not snide Fox News comments, was the ultimate insult to minorities.)

It was in response to this top-voted comment:

No non-white person or group, can argue this fact.

If there were organizations like (WET) White Entertainment Channel, White only colleges, White Miss America Pageant, A White College Fund, White History Month, White Chamber of Commerce, NAAWP, etc. non-whites would call us racist and law suits would follow.

Anti-racist is a CODE WORD for anti-White

(NAAWP's have actually existed and been laughed out of town.)

And in response to the comment I posted, all I got was a dumb drone (please downvote that comment/flag for spam):

Africa for the Africans

Asia for the Asians

White countries for EVERYONE!?

That’s GENOCIDE!

Anti-racism is a code word for anti-White

Which got me thinking: There is some sort of entitlement mentality among CONSERVATIVES. That's right. Have you ever thought whenever you read a story about some fundamentalist Christian group suing a school district or even the federal government (like in the recent uproar over contraception coverage in health insurance) for frivolous reasons that the plaintiffs sound like whiny toddlers screaming "it's MINE?" That is because of the message being promoted by the right wing think tanks and media that Real Americans (TM) either suck it up to the white Christian capitalist authoritarian POV or are...gasp...TRAITORS! For daring express support for evil, foreign cultures, or questioning the capitalist system, or being skeptical of the Godbotting of the 700 Club! Bill O'Reilly famously spilled the beans on that conservative entitlement mentality: "...the New York Times...and the far-left want...to break down the white, Christian, male power structure...and they want to bring in millions of foreign nationals to basically break down the structure that we have."

And if you're wondering why states with Republican governors have been pushing voter-ID laws and Florida even has purged hundreds of thousands of names off the voter registry (with many false positives) consider these quotes, first from Paul Weyrich's infamous 1980 speech:

Now many of our Christians have what I call the goo-goo syndrome -- good government. They want everybody to vote. I don't want everybody to vote. Elections are not won by a majority of people, they never have been from the beginning of our country, and they are not now. As a matter of fact, our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down.

32 years later, a Republican state representative in Pennsylvania named Mike Turzai, said in a speech: "We are focused on making sure that we meet our obligations that we’ve talked about for years...Voter ID, which is gonna allow Governor Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania, done."

Seems that Republi-cons are so insecure about their ability to win elections by merit they resort to these dirty tricks to win.

You might always have heard "OMG America isn't a white ethnocentric hetero-normative Christian nation with unquestioned free markets anymore! We're doomed! We're doomed!" louder today than anytime before the election of Barack Obama as president as well as other cultural shifts such as the increasing support in the country for gay marriage, [link:freethoughtblogs.com/dispatches/2011/08/24/why-young-people-are-less-religious/|younger Americans becoming less religious], and white babies becoming the minority of births. They know the plutocracy is crumbling and are desperate to bring it back.

because their gooses would be cooked if the people they exploit got together and turned against them.

Poor whites have always had the comfort of knowing that, though they might be losers, they could still look down on black people.

With the civil rights movement, they lost their position of superiority, as pathetic as it was. The Republicans took advantage and stoked the fires with misdirection..."it's those black people taking your jobs because of affirmative action...pay no attention to your jobs being shipped overseas!"

Now the Republicans and righties are preying on fear that the dark skinned people, black and brown, will rise up and oppress the whites, reversing hundreds of years of slavery and Jim Crow.

And so it goes...
