Canada Announces 70% Boost In Defence Budget In Response To Pressure From Trump/NATO

Offered without comment.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/jun/07/canada-increase-military-spending-nato

Justin Trudeau's Liberals were elected in part for their promise to stimulate the economy through an increase in govt. spending on infrastructure projects. However, I'm not sure this is what their supporters had in mind. The spending includes 15 new ships and 88 new jets. Since most of the jets are to be purchased from Boeing, the ships will most likely be the only thing that benefits the local economy.

How long before NATO arms Mexico and Canada with anti-missle systems to protect the world from the US?

I doubt it has very little to do with NATO commitments and more to do with lack of trust in the US' commitments to NATO.

that kills innocent bystanders...and they think abortion is awful.

Let the citizens raise these babies first and then send them out as cannon fodder...am I the only one who sees the irony of this whole situation?

rather than offense. It's a reaction to the realization that the US will not protect NATO countries if they are invaded.

Would not surprise me to see Canada with their own nukes within 5 years, if things continue as they are.

With Trump rapidly removing us from the world stage moves like this will be seen from contentious countries who hold the intelligence to see the big picture. Trump is already having a massive impact in decision making with countries around the world.
