Preet Bharara, the fired U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York whose ouster by Trump administration officials caused a stir earlier this year, is attending the Comey hearing today as a guest.

Bharara once worked for Comey when the fired FBI director held Bharara’s old job of top federal prosecutor in Manhattan. Bharara went on to become chief counsel for Sen. Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.), when he was just a rank-and-file member of the Judiciary Committee, and a decade ago Bharara helped oversee Comey’s bombshell testimony about a constitutional showdown during the first term of George W. Bush’s presidency involving counterterror operations.
