At various times as FBI Director, Comey annoyed, confused, frustrated and irritated me.

That being said, there are two things I can still say about him:

1. I don't believe he's a partisan hack for either side.
2. I don't believe he's dishonest.

His handling of the Clinton matter, both in July and October, was perplexing. I have the feeling that his added comments in July were perhaps a misguided effort on his part not to appear that by not bringing any charges, he wasn't doing it as an effort to boost Clinton politically. He just didn't see criminal behavior on her part.

As to October....I don't know if it was ineptitude on his part or things just spiraling out of control naturally. I was quite frustrated given the timing, and at one point I think I even expressed a desire that if Clinton did end up winning, maybe President Obama would just let him go before she takes office. But I never thought it was an intentional move on Comey's part to sabotage Hillary's campaign.

And the idea that Trump fired Comey for whatever missteps happened in the campaign was bullshit. But Trump himself quickly confirmed that fact. He admitted to it on national TV. And then to add insult to injury, he admitted it to the Russians while they all laughed in front of Russian media.

And I do believe his account of his interactions with Trump 100%.

And his firing was obstruction of justice. Plain and simple.

...but I also never believed he was doing it because he wanted Trump to win. I think he did it for the same reason a lot of people in the media, in the Democratic party, and elsewhere in DC do things: they fear the Republican trolls and the Republican party whining about their words and actions and claims that they aren't being "fair". He was worried about the renewed look at that other laptop getting out and being accused of being partisan.

Doesn't make it right, and doesn't mean his actions didn't have impact but I never believed he did it out of malice or for a desire for Trump to win.

Comey handled the Clinton matter in an absurd manner, over and over again.

Giuliani was making noises he knew something - he was gloating about it a couple days earlier. The info would come out from the leaky New York office, and it would come out in an exclusively partisan way.
Comey attempted (poorly) to avoid that by releasing it himself.

Like the rest of the country and the world. I don't think for a minute he thought his statement would influence the outcome of the election.

Yes, I disagree with his decisions.

I do not doubt his integrity and honesty or his commitment to the Constitution.
