I have used "I hope" as a threat and my kids know ECAXTLY what I mean!

I hope your homework was complete before you turned on the Xbox.

I hope your room was clean before you invited your friend over.

I hope you remembered to scoop the cat litter before you went out.

I hope you filled my gas tank back up after you borrowed my car.

Yeah, they know exactly what I mean.
