(94,720 posts)Either she builds a coalition Govt or she doesn't; the knives may be out for her at Conservative Party HQ, but she's no worse off trying to hold office.

(2,897 posts)the conservative party does not respond well to failures of leadership i.e. Cameron having to resign post Brexit. Few people probably want to have to suffer through another election with her helming things and given the nature of parliament after tonight, there might be another on in November.

(19,969 posts)campaign, run by an arrogant PM, who ran from debate against someone the Tory party has ridiculed for the last couple of years. If she doesn't go herself, others will move against her.

(32 posts)mentioned that the chances that the Conservatives could form a coalition were next to nil. Other minority party leadership have been rumored to a firm absolute no after recent experience and being punted to the sidelines after agreeing to a coalition.
I don't think there's a way back for her to maneuver and remain residing at 10 Downing.

I haven't followed British politics closely since Tony Blair but the basics don't seem to change much.

(32 posts)The Brits got a Do Over, and in record time. Could you imagine if Trump did what May did and called for a special election 333 days into office???
She's going to end up being the shortest time in occupancy as PM in at least over a half century.
To boot, it looks like they have been jolted awake to the reality of conservative policy and cruelty.
The odds are now in favor of Corbyn as next PM. Their own UK Bernie. In fact, Sanders went over and did some speaking engagements and praised Corbyn for his policy positions.
The slogan sounds very familiar!

Talk about getting an 11th hour reprieve from the governor, and to top it off potentially getting a new PM who could do transformational good for so many!
I'm really happy for them, as a former resident of London for 5 years about a decade ago. As an American I'm super bummed that we can't initiate some type of national referendum to get rid of a man who is unfit for the office of the President of the United States, and replacing that dimwit with the most popular political figure in America!
