(58,785 posts)with Hill SOMEWHAT out of the way.
Btw, Hill's 1996 book "It Takes a Village" speaks about her becoming Arkansas's first lady and learning that black prison labor tended the governor's mansion, had for decades (very different from Chicago and Wellesley). That's apparently now a big, fanned fire on twitter -- one started two days ago when the intelligence chiefs were due to testify.

(58,785 posts)Seriously, it's hard not to imagine that many of these people will still be hissing "Hillary" in old age, a passion that will hang on as good memories disappear.
But for now it's useful. I personally look forward to years of seeing her on TV keeping their outrage stoked by various good and important works.

(129,410 posts)Hillary, Reno, Shalala, Napolitano - and more recently Rice and they are gearing up for Lynch.
Same pattern - Democratic women = bad. Meanwhile, loons like Michele Bachmann and Joni Ernst and Marsha Blackburn are ignored.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)honored as she should be. A stay-at-home mother of 5 until her last was in high school, entering public service, reelected for decades by constituents she served well, rising to the highest position any woman has held so far through great competence. Instead, she'll be reading and listening to slimy lying attacks on her to the very end.
Well, they all can take it. Wish more people realized if that Susan B. and Sojourner Truth were still alive today they'd still be fighting.

(129,410 posts)she was always a "Baltimore girl". My mother always used to talk about Pelosi's father being the mayor there at one time. She knows politics like the back of her hand.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)and how she would work the front hall of a Baltimore pol's home with the door always open. And of course all those stay-at-home years she was still at least connected in California though living an "appropriate" woman's role for the era. A big life with many roles, but never far from politics.

(5,271 posts)She questions why he went first to Saudi Arabia on first overseas visit, instead of a friend like Canada where most of previous Presidents visited first.
Said she is looking into Saudi Arabia as a strange choice in light of suspicions of Saudi Arabia after 9/11. Sounds like all the financial dealmaking he attempted there is being scrutinized.
BumRushDaShow
(129,410 posts)all of those "agreements" are just stuff "on paper" to consider. Nothing is established as an intent to actually follow through - particularly since Saudi is still digging themselves out of debt (from back as far as the Persian Gulf War).

(4,178 posts)She is talking about why Trump chose Saudi Arabia as his first visit.
She said when he was there talking he "cleared the room"
BumRushDaShow
(129,410 posts)that when you have someone who is supposed to be "the leader of the free world" requesting a meeting alone and clearing the room - it is very intimidating. And she said he knows all about doing that type of power play (I have said that too).

(10,434 posts)I sure wish she or someone else would have pointed out the "coincidence" of Saudi Arabia spending money at tRump properties in order to get that 9-11 lawsuit dropped.
