Romney donors attend Hamptons fundraisers with Perelman and Koch, protest planned

Supporters of presumed Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney arrived early Sunday afternoon at the East Hampton estate of business magnate Ron Perelman for a fundraising lunch -- the first of three fundraising events held in the Hamptons.

Guests said they paid either $5,000 or $25,000 to attend the exclusive lunch and photo opportunity, and some had traveled there from out of state, including Atlanta, but many declined to divulge details.

Bob Shainwald, a retired teacher from Southampton, shouted to cars stopped in the traffic on Montauk Highway. "This traffic jam is brought to you by Mitt Romney, who's down the road," Shainwald yelled to drivers. "You're stuck in traffic because the billionaires are having a party."

A larger protest, organized by the Long Island Progressive Coalition, was planned for later Sunday afternoon at a Romney fundraising event at the Southampton estate of David Koch.
