Especially because the equipment was caught on camera miscounting the votes!!
This is exactly the sort of treatment citizens faced in various counties in California after 2004 when people became aware of the "blackboxes" -- in LA County, for example, meetings were held to allow citizens to view the new equipment. When citizens started asking questions about the accuracy at the initial meeting-- especially because the demonstration failed and the system crashed (I believe it was Diebold which they were trying to usher in via early voting)-- the Registrar, Conny McCormack, exhibited extreme anger had citizens escorted out by the police while the vendors, large as football players, (always in groups of 3 or more at meetings) and in dark tailored suits, remained, treated like royalty.
In looking at the semi annual agenda of the NASS a few years back, "how to handle troublesome citizens" (cannot recall exact wording) was one of the training seminars that elections officials could attend -- and I see that the Racine elections official has probably had that sort of training.
Almost every effort to request recounts has been met with great resistance (including nasty behavior by officials) and extreme cost from what I have been aware of in California.
