But as a former FBI counterintelligence agent, what I saw as the most explosive aspect of the testimony didnt involve any legal violation of the U.S. code or questions about whether Comey had broken established Department of Justice protocols. Instead, it was the prima facie evidence that Comey presented that Trump appears unwilling to uphold his oath to preserve, protect, and defend the country which puts the security of our nation and its democracy at stake. In the nine times Trump met with or called Comey, it was always to discuss how the investigation into Russias election interference was affecting him personally, rather than the security of the country. He apparently cared little about understanding either the magnitude of the Russian intelligence threat, or how the FBI might be able to prevent another attack in future elections.
.....
It does not require an FBI investigation to see that a president of the United States who finds no reason for concern in any of these assertions and indeed considers them a hoax cannot have the best interest of the country at heart.

(25,270 posts)diminishes his win. Already he's bummed cause Hillary received 3 million more popular votes than him (popular being the key word here).
Just think if he had to admit that the Russians helped him win.

(115,858 posts)Trump's desire to sideline the Flynn investigation is all part of the bigger picture, of course. His odd lack of curiosity about the status of the Russian hacking investigation suggests to me that he already knows who did it, how, and why, and that Flynn does, too. Which is why he wants them to stop looking at Flynn, because he's afraid Flynn might roll.
Is my tinfoil hat too tight?
It's kind of like that classic courtroom scene in the murder trial where the prosecutor announces that the murdered person whose body was never found is actually still alive and is about to walk into the courtroom, and everybody turns around to look at the courtroom door except the defendant, because the defendant knows the alleged victim really is dead - proving he's guilty.

Just why IS shitgibbon so unconcerned about what happened? Why does he want to protect Flynn? I think that part of it may be that orange boy doesn't understand that the whole thing is illegal and treasonous. Didn't he say that if his people hadn't talked to the Russians already that he would tell them to? How's THAT for accepting highly questionable acts as the norm?
