(51,129 posts)Taking a peace plan to a gun fight doesn't seem to work out for us.
rabid trump lovers around me say that clinton had an email server so that is the standard. In so many words.
I swear I am going to build an email server on a rasberry pi for each one of them for xmas. they won't
use TLS or SSL. They'll eat 'em up. like giving coal for xmas.

(3,847 posts)she still had a 15% lead over The Traitor. It was that one thing, 1 thing alone that stole our election from us and we are still talking about those fucking emails.
This behavior, this treatment of Hillary is disgusting. Seems like all the little boys in big suits are getting away with treason.

(58,785 posts)This is incredibly larger than mere misogyny, and even the Russian involvement is small potatoes. The Russians obligingly assisted far more dangerous enemies of our democracy by helping them win our election: members of huge right-wing conspiracy right here in our nation to empower a conservative business class to permanently dominate our government. And Russia may well have done it knowingly, but they're not the huge threat we face.
As for Comey, merely what we know is damning. He watched the Russians hacking the DNC files for months without making the DNC aware. He'd been investigating Russian attempts to infiltrate our electoral process since 2015. He made his public statements to subvert the election knowing he and the Russians were working to the same end.
These are very likely not his only misuses of his power to throw the election to the Republicans and those controlling that party, only the ones we know about. Yet he's being successfully protected so far from investigation into his activities. We need to know if he acted carefully on his own or if he conspired with others on the right to misuse his power to help throw the election to them.
I suspect Comey's currently still actively assisting those efforts to take power by helping set the stage for removal of Trump, in case they need, as is likely, to replace him with a president who shares their goals. As it is, they've already managed to fill the vice presidency and most WH and other top executive branch positions with their people.

(58,785 posts)His actions say he did it deliberately and calculatedly over a series of actions. Sure, he's a conservative, and it wouldn't be surprising if among his motivations was misogyny, but my guess is that at this alarming point even Hillary has stuck and asterisk on that to focus on the big threat.
Comey's playing in an enormous ultraconservative project, the goals of which are to forever protect people like the Kochs and Mercers, and many thousands of other ultra-wealthy families, from having to pay taxes into programs like the unemployment fund, Medicare or Social Security -- because progressive federal programs will be declared unconstitutional. Charles even wants to eliminate compulsory education; how the rest of the kochtopus feels about that I don't know, but people are arguing for it.
Btw, when that kind of person thinks of the lazy, undeserving bums who don't take care of themselves, he means the entire working classes who need the security of SS against the possibility of economic disaster later in life, of everyone who can't simply write a check to pay for his own medical care. And most of the positions rump has managed to fill, including cabinet, are their people with mandates to destroy the functioning of our federal government from within.

(27,835 posts)There are many alarming things going on in the world right now; jailing members of a female band who called out an autocratic male leader are kind of at the top of my list. I'm not entirely sure if you are riffing off of that, or if you are chiming in on the wrong thread and/or comment.

(65,489 posts)I supported Bernie in the primaries, Hillary in the general election. But I have always admired and respected her. It's just that I am to the left of her politically.
The calls for her to shut up and go away, after first groveling and blaming herself and only herself, are to a significant degree based on sexist double standards.
But they are also partly based on partisan double standards. Remember the GOP squawking "Sore Loserman" at Gore and Lieberman during the recount? However, when Franken clearly won his Senate seat, his GOP opponent dragged out the recount forever, with full support of his party at all levels, but Gore was pressured to surrender by not just the GOP, but also the Dem establishment.

She campaigned relentlessly. The media only seemed disposed to cover Trump, or to cover large rallies. Those aren't her forte (and so what?) but they seem disinclined to follow her meeting nurses and children and going to diners and coffee shops and going on "Broad City" or doing funny interviews. Rallies or nothing.
But how many times now have you heard that, Biden and others are saying she needed to be In Pennsylvania. She was there plenty. And she was out meeting people every day.

(15,245 posts)The ass hole who in public asked Russians to interfere in the election and specifically to hack Hillary's email is now in a dither that he may be held accountable. I have no sympathy and much antipathy for Trump voters.

(53,871 posts)is allegedly trying to make it right.
He should've thought of that before being nothing more than a partisan hack and delivering the White House to an incompetent who is always at the center of chaos.
Just look at trump's whole life, it's nothing but stiffing people, scamming people, suing people and getting sued, scheming to make money and all this crap just follows him around and now he's again at the center of chaos as the president.
It's exhausting and I wonder how long the rest of the nation is sick of too as we are on DU?

(32 posts)I'm tired of seeing news where she blames the DNC, or Comey, or Russia, or Obama, or any and every thing by passing the buck.
The Russia investigation isn't all about her. Other methods were deployed by Russia. Other people's emails were hacked. Podesta isn't making rounds.
Besides, a full and formal investigation is under way. Unless she's versed in computer forensics, I have faith in them doing the job in a thorough manner and releasing their report and findings.

(31,121 posts)criticize Democrats, but I said to myself, Bernie isnt a Democrat.
So I dont know what I can and cant do, but it doesnt matter, from what I can tell the alleged progressives are on a roll attacking the Democratic Party here, there and everywhere.
Between that and the Russians hacking the voting software and voting rolls and the emails and campaigns of ALL democratic candidates, we dont stand a chance next year.
Personally, I am focusing on my family, my immediate surroundings. I fully expect either Russians or deplorables to start bad things very soon.
Unless dumbshit bombs NK first, causing hundreds of thousands, possibly millions to die in both NK and SK.
