Instead of the plain velvet drapes (the thing they hung around our shoulders so that every girl had the same "dress&quot that had been used for every previous year someone decided that the girls had to wear frilly drapes.

The photographer kept trying to get me to smile, using sexist language and irritating the hell out of me. Over the fifty years since more than one person has commented that in the best of the pictures I look absolutely pissed - I was. I kept thinking, "FUCK YOU!" during the entire photo shoot.
