Republicans Have No Socially Redeeming Value

It’s as simple as that.

For decades, the GOP has done nothing to support or protect the rights of the citizenry.
Instead, they have been solely focused on taking rights away from Americans – a woman’s right to choose, an LGBTer’s right to marry, a citizen’s right to vote.

Republicans have NOTHING to point to as an example of their concern for the hard-working middle-class – zero, nada, nothing – while examples of their incredibly deep concern for wealthy corporations and individuals is a matter of a very lengthy public record.

With their election of Trump, Republicans have been emboldened in their quest to diminish the rights of their fellow countrymen – and if his “presidency” means our nation’s standing in the global community is diminished as well, they are more than happy to accept that as “collateral damage” as they further their own agenda.

While the nation – and the entire world – watches what the Republicans will actually DO about Russian interference in our electoral processes, the GOP continues to do nothing at all. They continue to support Trump’s contention that such interference is simply a witch-hunt, a “hoax” perpetrated by disgruntled Democrats and a media desperate for something to talk about.

Republicans have, repeatedly and consistently, totally ignored ANY evidence of collusion between Trump and his cohorts and Russian operatives – in the same way they’ve dismissed the rights of their fellow Americans. They have ZERO interest in determining how a foreign adversarial power was able to affect our nation’s ability to fairly elect our POTUS, in the same way they continue to ignore the rights and freedoms of anyone who disagrees with their determination to thwart every citizen’s right to affordable healthcare, every citizen’s right to vote, every citizen’s right to choose, every citizen’s right to decide who to love, marry, and raise a family with.

There is no middle ground here. Either Republicans want to pursue an investigation into Russian interference in our election process, or they want to obstruct any such investigation. Either they care about the fact that the Idiot they elected to the presidency is destroying our nation’s leadership in the world, or they care about protecting that Idiot as long as HE doesn’t interfere with their ability to do what they’ve always done – diminish the rights, freedoms, and well-being of American citizens.

The fact that an ENTIRE political party is willing to defend-and-protect a known liar rather than the rights and welfare of their countrymen speaks for itself. The fact that an entire political party is willing to excuse the inane statements and actions of their elected Idiot while working to take healthcare away from their fellow citizens speaks for itself.

The fact IS that an entire political party – the GOP – is without any socially redeeming value. They are as devoid of patriotism as they are human decency. They are morally bankrupt hypocrites whose only goal is destroying the very rights and freedoms our nation stands for – and if attaining that goal means defending the indefensible bullshit spewed by their Dear Leader, watching in silence as our country’s position as a world leader is eroded, and accepting provable lies as truth-telling, it’s a price they are more than willing to pay.

As I said, it’s as simple as that. And the only people who don't recognize that are the simple-minded - a.k.a the Republican base.
