Who do you know that has every one of these traits?

Having an exaggerated sense of self-importance
Expecting to be recognized as superior even without achievements that warrant it
Exaggerating your achievements and talents
Being preoccupied with fantasies about success, power, brilliance, beauty or the perfect mate
Believing that you are superior and can only be understood by or associate with equally special people
Requiring constant admiration
Having a sense of entitlement
Expecting special favors and unquestioning compliance with your expectations
Taking advantage of others to get what you want
Having an inability or unwillingness to recognize the needs and feelings of others
Being envious of others and believing others envy you
Behaving in an arrogant or haughty manner

Very few people have all of these so if you do it's an extremely bad case! A study of cult leaders found they tended to have all the traits or most of them.

we should be glad 45 is stupid. The ones in my life were much more clever and knew how to hide their crap.

so I can pick up on it very quickly and it doesn't matter much if they're stupid or not. The boredom and mild irritation when the topic of conversation shifts away form them is a dead giveaway even if it lasts only a nanosecond.

Sorry you had to deal with so many of them. At least I got to go home at the end of the shift.

with a personality disorder was the hatter exhaustion I would feel after an hour session with them. Their absolute inability to see themselves accurately made doing therapy with them incredibly challenging.
