Samsung Galaxy Tab Isn’t as ‘Cool’ as the iPad, Says Judge

Apple’s lawsuit against Samsung over the Galaxy Tab, claiming Samsung’s tablet isn’t “cool” enough to be confused with Apple’s iPad.

Judge Colin Birss ruled Monday in London that the Galaxy tablet does not infringe on Apple’s registered design, Bloomberg reports.

Explaining how the Galaxy tablets differ from the iPad, Judge Birss said they were distinctive because they were thinner and had “unusual details” on the back.

The Galaxy tablets “do not have the same understated and extreme simplicity which is possessed by the Apple design. They are not as cool,” Birss said.

I think the judge knew exactly what he was doing, how can apple dispute that? Leave Samsung alone!

These lawsuits are such a joke anyways. When I saw the headline, I thought it was going to be an idiot judge making a silly statement. But it's actually a very crafty ruling that makes it difficult for Apple to continue some of these frivolous lawsuits.

This is hilarious! I love my Tab-- more than that, I love having a choice. Is Apple trying to make enemies with these lawsuits? Just ridiculous!

Samsung should have made their tablets triangular.

They shouldn't have made their corners round despite having manufactured TVs with round corners long before Apple started making iCrap. Every one knows Apple invented round corners to be cool and didn't just use an established engineering design that results in corners that won't chip and crack.

They should have used neon green edges instead of black that doesn't disrupt viewing even though they made black edge TVs and monitors long before Jobs became a class A asshole.
