(10,497 posts)It seems once he gets something in his head he can't help himself. If no one has ever done it before he seems to take it as a challenge, even if it is something normal sane people wouldn't want to do. He cannot stand to be told not to do something. Since he is never wrong, why not. When it blows up in his face he will find a scape goat who's fault it was.
He is not that smart either. I think there is a distinct possibility he will do it.

(15,242 posts)Just wait to see how the Russia scandal plays out and Trump takes the fall for Republican greed. There is a mighty shit storm coming. It couldn't happen to a more deserving crook.

(17,015 posts)it's not just us that wants him gone. It's most of the entire world. Even if he managed to shut down the investigation here that wouldn't stop other countries from investigating him and "leaking" what they find.

(6,252 posts)He has the support of congress and no reason to not fire him.
If he doesn't fire him he may have a lot to lose.
He will be fired. Mark it.

(21,718 posts)People quit rather than firing him, the only person who would was Bork, and I think he was Solicitor General at the time.
I guess those 3 denials by Comey were off a bit.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,828 posts)At the time Comey met with Trump, there was, in fact, no counterintelligence investigation that had Trump's name on it, and he (Trump) was very insistent that that fact be made public - and he did that himself by firing Comey, using the ridiculous pretext that Comey didn't treat Hillary fairly. But then, he admitted to Lester Holt that he fired Comey "because of Russia" (and he told the Russians that, too). While firing Comey on account of the Russia investigation was by itself only prima facie obstruction, apparently it was enough to make the Senate and Mueller start looking into it. So let's say Trump, now knowing Mueller and the Senate judiciary Committee are going to investigate him, fires him for no good reason (which he really can't, but he'd try). What was formerly just possible evidence of obstruction becomes a flaming, blazing, no-shit-Sherlock case of obstruction of justice that a relatively dim first-year law student could prosecute walking away.
