I am assuming this all-inclusive ball game was men only.

(62,444 posts)...but it takes about three seconds to Google 'congressional baseball teams'. Actually, less time than to post your assumption.

(9,527 posts)Your original post blatantly snared about an all inclusive event excluding women. You didn't ask, you presumed and you used that to sneer disdainfully. If you had simply asked, perhaps you wouldn't have gotten snark in return.

(53,792 posts)It can't be much more fun for unskilled congress people both male and female. I mean come on, with the pitcher throwing the small, hard baseball from 60 ft at people who don't do that everyday, if the pitcher even gets it to the plate, are they going to manage to hit anything but a weak ground ball?
Softball, slow-pitch softball even better, would be more fun for the players who would make better contact with the pitched ball, and at 2/3s the size of a baseball field would make base running and fielding more fun too.

(8,419 posts)I am 55, roughly the same age as a lot of the players. I have played a lot of softball from my twenties forward, when I pick up a baseball it feels strange (small) but I can still throw it in the mid 70's. Issue is my arm is like rubber the next day. I'm not sure if they are using restricted flight baseballs (softer) but it seems like a game of softball is much better suited for any group of people over 35. Slo-pitch doesn't cause anyones arm to ache the next day, every player gets a bit more reaction time, especially third and first base, and a bigger surface to hit.
