The families of those killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting are begging NBC to pull Megyn Kellys interview with Infowars conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, currently slated to air on Fathers Dayand hinting that legal action could follow if the station pushes ahead with the program. Lawyers representing 12 parents and family members sent a letter to NBC bigwigs on Thursday afternoon, asking them not to run the interview with Jones, who has claimed that the mass shooting was a hoax perpetrated by crisis actors. The letter claims that NBC is providing Jones with legitimacy and inflicting serious emotional distress on the families. Twenty young children and six staff members died in the massacre. Kelly has promised that her interview will be hard-hitting and will press Jones on Sandy Hook, but critics have blasted the trailer promoting it. Late Thursday, Jones revealed he secretly recorded Kelly and published audio that appears to indicate the new NBC hire promised to go easy on him in the interview.

Unto eternity. Their children, their children's children, unto the seventh generation.

(5,762 posts)the anguish felt by these families, their extended families, their friends, and their colleagues. I count myself among them.
My friend was offered an opportunity by Kelly to present (their) side. THERE. IS. NO. SIDE. Facts are facts whether you accept them or not. Not accepting them makes you an idiot. Not accepting this particular set of facts makes you a cruel idiot.
There are dozens of people in my workplace, sick at heart, circling the wagons around my friend to keep them safe and supported. This is no trivial matter. It is an outrage.
My friend's family will spend Father's Day trying to stay away from anyone who looks like a media type...because the last thing they want is for Sandy Hook to be in the news again.
Please spare a thought on Sunday for the fathers who have no children to make them handmade cards or lopsided pots.
