Does everyone else have a knot in the pit of their stomach

Last edited Sat Jun 17, 2017, 10:19 AM - Edit history (1)

that twists a little whenever they read or see something else that Trump does?

It's there everyday, a feeling of dread that something bad is going to happen.

A waking nightmare we can't escape.

Anyone else feel like that?

And I am resigned to the reality that, before we can stop them, they will do very extensive damage to the systems a nation of 300+ million must have to function at all well.

That said, I am afraid of what could happen if the archconservatives behind all this get control of SCOTUS and redefine what is constitutional and not. That could take decades to undo. I"m older and it probably wouldn't happen in my lifetime, even if it sparked a constitutional amendment to limit terms.

To the point that I am glad when people get frightening glimpses of what they intend. But support is still basically as strong as ever on the right. They're far from understanding just how dreadfully they are being betrayed. We need more revelations, more fright.

And I'd gladly trade the Obama-generated good economy they're reportedly happily attributing to Rump for a good strong recession before 2018.

McConnell, especially, has been a major hindrance to progress since Obama took office. Now Trump seems largely motivated by undoing anything his predecessor accomplished. What a farce, in terms of representing average citizens in the U.S., the present day Republicans have become. Ryan seems to find his ideal of government in late-eighteenth century (pre-revolutionary) France.

I feel like I'm drowning in fear. Every morning, I wake up with a knot of dread as I turn on the computer to see what horror that asshole inflicted overnight. And every morning that I don't see that he's bombed somebody is like a weight off my chest.

It doesn't help that I'm going to lose my health insurance for the first time in 56 years. I'm self-employed (after Republicans ate up all the companies in my industry like Pacman), and when the premiums go up because of Trump's sabotage, I'm simply screwed. I just won't be able to afford it. Health insurance will have become as out of reach for me financially as... oh... a trip to Mars. Health insurance will have become a luxury item. And I'm already working 60 hours a week.

But at least I'm healthy, so I just have to gamble until one of the states passes single payer or Medicare for all, and I can move there. I feel enormous empathy for everybody with pre-existing conditions.

I cannot wrap my head around how utterly evil that guy and these Republicans are. If they don't want their tax dollars to be spent on Planned Parenthood, how come I don't get to say that I don't wany my tax dollars spent on Mar-a-Lago, or more troops, or any other asinine Opposite World thing this shitgibbon and his troop of sub-shitgibbons are proposing?

DREAD. I hate going to sleep, I hate waking up. I keep telling myself it'll be over at some point, but I don't know how we all keep breathing in the meantime. It feels like some sort of a slow-motion Pompei.

within two years. I moved to a red state a couple years ago--temporarily--for a good job but that was before dump got into office. Now it's going to become unbearable, especially since I'm in a state that ranks high on voter suppression and low in electoral integrity. Once kobach gets done fixing the vote at the Federal level, we're stuck with a fascist oligarchy.

So, because the GOPee sure looks like they're gonna wreck healthcare, the only safe places will be the blue states that enact their own legislation to replace or compensate for the damage the pukes do at the Federal level.

The US will be unrecognizable compared to the nation of JFK, LBJ and the legacy of FDR that I grew up with. I no longer will know this place. The kochs and the idiot faux lovers can have it.

Moving back to California within two years is now my primary goal in life. Later on, if circumstances permit, New Zealand or Canada.

I got Epstein Barre antibodies in my system. I just need to get enough 😴, eat properly, supplement, don't overdo stuff. But as said, emotional stress will really wipe you out.

One rheumatologist I was referred to said the diagnosis of Epstein Barre was mono, everybody has/has had that. Whaaat?? 🤔

Especially the daily revolting crap emitting from drumpty et al is debilitating. A severe stressor!

Peace be unto you....

35. I'm concerned about the psychological warfare that is being waged on us.
Sat Jun 17, 2017, 10:35 AM
Jun 2017

I was reading last night about the shock and awe doctrine, and it describes perfectly what it appears the repubs are going to try to do with this new health care bill. Some of the books about psychological warfare are required reading for CIA, probably the FBI as well. And it is interesting reading just how much of what the repubs do can be considered tactics to destroy opposition. After months of abusing the public, our courts, etc.., supporting policies regarding guns that endanger us, one of their most malignant reps is shot at, and the break from normal denial and abuse on their part is a play on sympathy and compassion. Not to mention they endeavored to make it someone else's fault. But honestly, that too is a move right out of psy-ops, and is a technique used by kidnappers, etcc, to break people down. Take a breath, do something really nice for yourself today fellow resistors.

That phrase sums it up pretty well.

Aside from the very real damage this ignorant vile demagogue will inflict on people and the environment, I am deeply ashamed and embarrassed to have this grotesque fraud as our president.

When he won the Republican nomination I thought a Democratic victory was guaranteed and the Republican party would decline in disarray from the weight of its own moral corruption and the monster they nominated.

I overrated the good sense of the American electorate. Yes, I know Hillary won the popular vote, but an utterly detestable creature like Donald Trump should not get as much as 10% support in any sane society.

They want you to be miserable, unstable, full of dread, makesy ou easier to manipulate. They don't want you to enjoy your life. They want to feel in power and you to feel powerless.

So make the choice not to let them do that to you. I'm not saying ignore it, but figure out a better reaction. Fight, get mad, be peaceful, do whatever it takes and is best for you. But give up the dread. Life goes on.

I cannot even put into words half the time how stupid his supporters are and how mean the GOP turned out to be. No one is talking about hollow point bullets which is probably what was used for Steve Scalise so that so much damage was done internally. Between planned parenthood, healthcare, guns, bullets, climate, NATO, Russia, Obstruction, we need healthcare now more than ever. Sat Jun 17, 2017, 11:20 AM
Jun 2017

Our country is under attack from every single side - the environment, our public lands, healthcare, the social safety net, on and on. We have a madman at the helm of the ship of state and his rabid supporters blindly cheer him on and on. I am disabled, getting by on a tiny SSDI check. Trumpf and the reptilicans want to cut disability, cut housing programs, cut medicaid and more. With a republican congress, these cuts may well happen - especially since they now have decided to work their evil in secret. I am terrified of losing my health care and my housing - me and millions of other Americans. I loathe that monster!

still deeply concerned about what atrocities Trump & his sycophants will be able to pull off before they're kicked out of the White House.

The thing that worries me the most though, is that we're going to keep getting Republicans in office that although they may not be as incompetent as Trump, will be just as evil. Here's a couple reasons why I fear this will keep happening...

1. It's hard for me to believe with how easily they got away with stealing the election, that they wouldn't keep doing it. Why would they stop when they've faced zero consequences for it, and it's actually become a taboo to even make the suggestion that they did it in the first place? We're all just supposed to bury our heads in the sand and keep pretending that it didn't happen, when everything suggests that it did. I can't imagine that they wouldn't keep stealing elections with how successful they've been.

2. Right-wing media. They're successfully brainwashing the masses via television through networks like Fox News, via radio hosts like Rush Limbaugh, through websites like Breitbart, and via social media with fake news. Their viewers, readers, and listeners are conditioned not to trust any legitimate news sources. They're hard to reason with and get through to, because there's no source of information we can give them that they will trust. So we have this huge fraction of the population that is caught up in this right-wing news bubble. They've been conditioned to think that liberals, immigrants, people of color, and anything outside of Christianity is a direct threat to themselves. Right now as I'm typing this, the right-wing media is making a huge coordinated push to their viewers, readers, and listeners that any investigation into Trump and his cohorts is to be dismissed as part of a Deep State and liberal conspiracy to take out Trump.

In my opinion, until we can ensure the integrity of our elections and find a better way to combat the right-wing media, then I fear it almost doesn't even matter when Trump & his cronies are out of office because they'll just keep getting replaced by similar evils.

So yeah, there's still a pit in my stomach.

I've survived 79 years. McCarthy's Red Menace, Vietnam, Nixon, Reagan, but I must admit Trump has thrown me for a loop. Just when I thought I could relax and leave politics to my children, I realized I needed to set an example of how to survive in difficult times for my grandchildren. Immediately following the election I announced to my family that I was going to start attending my Democratic Town meetings. I put Congressman Jim Himes, Senator Chris Murphy, and Senator Richard Blumenthal on speed dial.

In trying to achieve a balance in my life, I take walks on the beach to connect with the earth. Limit my exposure to the news by reading the NY Times and watching MSNBC from 7-11 while keeping up with the Red Sox games.

I am heartened to see honest politicians like my Connecticut congressmen, rise to the occasion. We shall overcome. Resist! Persist!
