And also check the original source to be sure it's not some lame satire site.

You could only go back and edit the text.

Otherwise I'd never get anything posted here on DU, at least not without multiple lines of those little-red-letters-of-shame above my Message text.

OCD is celebrated when I'm working in a blood bank or writing critical code, but it's a handicap in ordinary life and maybe the reason I don't have 100,000+ posts here on DU. (I've certainly been here long enough to be someone with 100,000+ posts...)

Or maybe DU is an obsession too.

Usually I'll only edit a post if I decide the meaning is grotesquely unclear or even the opposite of my intent.

I've got a lifetime's experience, more than half a century, saying inappropriate things. Nothing's gonna change that.

I don't understand complaints about grammar or spelling in a place like DU where it's not critical, and especially not critical when the meaning is clear.

If I was teaching I'd be the sort to say "get it out there" and polish it later.

Punishing kids for bad grammar and spelling is counterproductive. We ought to be striving first for clarity of meaning and critical thinking.

Too much writing with perfect spelling and grammar is SHIT.

How much writing with perfect grammar and spelling is ok? 50%? 25%?

Funny how I see so many on DU make fun of RWingers who can't use the language properly, but somehow DUers should be exempt. I hate the blatant hypocrisy I see here so often.

Be assured I don't give a fuck.

There's plenty more sophisticated ways to mock RWingers.

Even if my grammar is shit.

I own the English language, it doesn't own me.

Authoritarians never seem to see it that way.

I've had spelling and grammar errors, but worse are posts with
misinformation or vitriol. I've erased many posts. I've regretted
some that I've made. At 66, I'm still trying to grow up.
