The subtext of this OP seems to be that Dowd, as a lawyer, represented Rajaratnam, who was accused of a crime (and even convicted), so therefore Dowd is a slimeball.
Attacking a lawyer on such grounds is inimical to the right to counsel, which is a fundamental civil right.
Dowd's email to the reporter is different, and can reasonably be criticized.
