One thing about natural disasters, the need for the federal government to make prompt repairs and rescues should be very like the eternal local political need to keep the roads voters use in repair.

Most conservatives may be incredibly deluded these days, but they can care and understand reality a lot better when it's simple things like no power to their homes. Even if they choose to believe the disaster was a Democratic plot, they're still going to expect Rump to come to the rescue.
