The place he called "a pisshole".
No press, no contact, no working.
Wonder if he is worried about anything?

(7,417 posts)Ask yourself what are the differences between Camp David and his usual weekend getaways. No hotel/resort guests. Fewer distractions. Greater seclusion and security.
I'm thinking whoever planned this weekend needed a place to hunker down and make plans with absolutely no chance of leaks of any sort. This shows someone in the administration sees this weekend as particularly important.

Lots of places to live for a few years when his friends decide to make the rest of the countryside radioactive.
Oh, shit. There I go being conspiratorial again.
If anyone on I-66 or Route 7 in Virginia notice a lot of well-armored vehicles heading out of DC sometime soon, duck under your desks.

(130,906 posts)Trump family makes first visit to Camp David.
"If and when they are at Camp David, the place will be stocked with his favorites, those Keebler Vienna Fingers cookies, and better have the Lay's potato chips," he said, adding that the Secret Service will also have probably checked out the nearest Kentucky Fried Chicken locations, just in case POTUS gets a craving. "You have to figure that out. They'll map, know, target and analyze how to get in and get out of at least three locations," he said, adding that staff got used to fast food runs during Bill Clinton's visits.
(For the record, there's a KFC in Thurmont that's open until midnight on Saturdays, and one just over the border in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, about a 25-minute drive from Camp David.)
Outside of easy access to fried chicken, Trump could also get to know Camp David for its security purposes; it's a fully activated government safe zone, just a 20-minute Marine One helicopter ride from the South Lawn of the White House.'>>>

I read about when Jackie wanted a getaway summer place JFK tried to get the gov't to defray some of the cost. The SS was like... nah son that's what Camp David is for.
dixiegrrrrl
(60,010 posts)They say it costs around $35,000 a visit.
SS and WH staff have to sleep there, eat there, he gets paid, it is his club. WE pay it, as taxpayers.
Minute he got elected he raised the club membership fee from 200,000 to 300,000.
I read that in 2016, after he announced his candidacy, Mar-Lego earned almost twice as much ( 91%) more than in 2015.
Also same for any of his golf clubs he has been staying at over the weekends.

(152 posts)discuss, plot, plan or manuever bc it can and will be construed as cover up and obstruction. Mof staff has been told by their own personal lawyers not to ever talk to DT's lawyer alone without counsel. When WH counsel told them they didn't need a lawyer while everyone around them hires lawyers left and right....trust goes out the window.
It's every man for himself now. That's probably what sent Trump & Co scurrying to Camp David. No one can co sign his bullshit.

(58,785 posts)The investigation has become very broad, delving into the finances and connections of many, many people and entities on various continents. Whatever this collection of crooks and hyenas imagined they were hiding, it's now exploded out of any hope of control and moving far, far, far faster than the Nixon and Reagan scandals suggested could be possible.
And the Republican Party won't protect them. It doesn't need or want them. It has Pence, Ryan, Orrin Hatch in line for the presidency, all competent, long-time Koch allies and agents.
Camp David has to be an attempt to get some control of Rump's behavior and their own as they figure how to proceed. For the first time in his life he can't just throw money at his latest disaster, or wave goodbye to what's already down the hole, and walk away.

(152 posts)DT keeps pushing for lifting the Russian sanctions even with all the heat re Putin and Resnoft.
Once Putin got word the senate was opposed and blocking Trump he probably threatened him with tapes, called in his loans, anything and everything he has on him. Putin doesn't care about DT's longterm political viability; he wants those sanctions lifted.

(18,837 posts)Trump's Florida compound and his other gold-laden properties have been top of mind lately in Thurmont, where just a few miles up a winding mountain road presidents have vacationed and cajoled world leaders at Camp David deep in the woods, in cozy cabins, a total anathema to Trump.
"Camp David is very rustic, it's nice, you'd like it," Trump said in an interview with a European journalist just before taking office. "You know how long you'd like it? For about 30 minutes."

He is a very strong-minded, very special, smart boy. He is independent and opinionated and knows exactly what he wants. Sometimes I call him little Donald. He is a mixture of us in looks, but his personality is why I call him little Donald.

(54,379 posts)In 1995, I found a huge ornate Arkansas levee bond from the year 1871. I brought it with me when I met Bill Clinton for the first time, and got a nice letter from him a while later thanking me for it, and telling me he had it on display at Camp David. I sent a follow up note with a copy of the invoice I got when I bought it in Paris.
Sitting presidents are only allowed to keep personal gifts received while in office if they cost under $200, and the guy in Paris had charged me the equivalent of $175, so I made sure Clinton could keep it when he left office. Trump would probably have trashed it if he saw it, but I don't think Clinton neglected to take it with him.
