(45,806 posts)able to get one done for the 2020 election. I intend to begin tomorrow by contacting our Governor, & my state Senator &
Representative. I will continue with LTTEs with hopes of getting enough citizens to complain that they won't be able to ignore us anymore. I think we can even get Pubs to join us by explaining to them that at any time in any district, a Dem could win and continue to put our real votes in question.
Will any Georgian reading this join me?

(6,974 posts)People either don't want to acknowledge this, or they won't accept the truth, and it's that that our voting apparatus is EXTREMELY old, vulnerable and hackable, and in many places there is no paper trail. Refuse to acknowledge that thuglicans will be voter-suppress on 'roids in 2018/2020, and you have the GOP's and tRumputin's besties the ruskies who are getting things "ready" for 2018 and 2020 as we speak. Those things are bad enough, but Dems have to actually show up to vote. thuglicans sure showed up in Cobb County on Tuesday to support that lying pig Handel and her installed president tRump.
I readily admit, I have NO answer as to HOW we solve any of these problems.

(36,108 posts)There were several articles surfacing the last few weeks saying she campaigned WITHOUT mentioning him. Instead she went for an old school 'conservative southern values' approach or something like that
But now the TRUMP Crazy Train GOP owns her butt

(25,183 posts)Hopefully, we'll target places that can actually flip from red to blue, and districts that normally give a 20% margin to the GOP are not in that group.
More importantly, even if we narrow the Rethuglican majority in the House, they may well enlarge their majority in the Senate, which involves the confirmation of Federal judges. I'd rather see money go to defending Senate seats because of that very reason.

(491 posts)He was losing at the end by about 2 points. His issue was that he lived out of the district and the voters of that district are not feeling any negatives from a Trump Presidency yet.

(5,049 posts)These special elections were supposed to be a slam dunk for the GOP. Instead - they had to spend tens of millions and fly in the heavy hitters to defend these seats. In 2018, we don't need these seats to take a majority but the GOP will now have to spend a fortune to defend these seats to protect theirs. This was more than a moral victory - this was a preview of things to come.
