We are on our own. There is no blue wave in the South. We aren't going to flip Texas. The red states are not going to come to their senses. Montana elected a person who body slammed a reporter.
We need to consolidate our power in the blue states, stop wasting money in the south and midwest, and go after purple states to take back power.
We'll just have to drag the red states kicking and screaming back to prosperity with us.
Oh, and if you think there is a snowball's change on a july day in HELL that Trump is EVER going to be impeached, especially after the gloating the GOP is going to do about GA06, you just need to take that fantasy out behind the woodshed and put it out of its misery.
And let me cut short the inevitable reply I know is coming: Moral victories do not vote in congress.

(841 posts)These folks will always come home to Team GOP. These voters might not like Trump very much but they love tax cuts. That is their big issue. They will never support a center-left party in any significant numbers.

(35,438 posts)I had friends who would have preferred Cruz, Rubio, Bush or any number of Republicans over Trump but held their noses and voted for him in the general election. When I asked them why "tax cuts" was always the answer.

(7,417 posts)Sure there will be pockets in the South where Democrats can make some inroads, but anyone who is aware of the South's history, sociology, culture and politics can tell you it's best to concentrate elsewhere. Even after FDR pulled many Southerners out of a deep well, far too many were too eager to vilify the man.
The kind of conservatism that grips the South exceeds politics. In fact, the political habits are more symptomatic of something far deeper, more averse to change, more suspicious of anything that hasn't been indoctrinated and embedded over generations. It's the reason the region of the nation that benefits most from the federal government is so quick to spew hatred at the very forces and resources that help them.

(4,450 posts)The entire upper Midwest is trending Republican- Wisconsin's just "ahead" of the rest. TRUMP came way closer to winning MN than anyone since Reagan.

(6,079 posts)manufacturing and the jobs here pay more than jobs I've seen in Washington and California and our cost of living is much cheaper.

(4,450 posts)this hellhole of a state. I swear, if you've been gone even ten years you wouldn't recognize it. People are no longer nice to each other, nobody trusts anybody, everyone seems to be going fundie... we've been turned into a bunch of hateful jerks. At least southerners still fake being nice.

(6,079 posts)to move somewhere else. Trust me, I know all about hateful jerks living in the south. People up north are amazed when I tell them some of the stuff I've seen and heard living here.

(65,173 posts)Really we need some of those electoral college votes to win, unless we make headway in states like NC, AZ, FL.

(2,785 posts)I'm not buying we cannot flip some these either. We recently flipped one historically republican state in Virginia and won North Carolina in 2008. The Midwest is trending republican so we better make a dent in the south.
