GOP Congressman: Soldiers Will Pretend To Be Transgender To Get Out Of Combat
By Miranda Blue | June 21, 2017 3:39 pm
Republican Rep. Steve Russell of Oklahoma warned in an interview with the Family Research Councils Tony Perkins last week that if the military moves forward with a planned integration of openly transgender people, soldiers may start pretending to be transgender in order to get out of combat deployments.

This guy is stuck in the 50s. That seems to be the problem with a lot of Republicans.
There's a whole would out there that isn't represented by "Leave it to Beaver" reruns, guys. Oh, and by the way, that was fiction, too.

Lenny, no stranger to combat (he participated in four invasions), just felt it was time to move on, since the war in his part of the world was over.
I thought his story simply apocryphal, a fanciful tale for how he returned to civilian life, something he concocted for the stage. And when Jamie Farr explained how he modeled Klinger on Bruce, I took it as a wonderful homage.
In 2010, however, Navy records came to light that show it may have actually gone down the way Bruce explained.

So the Congressman may not be far from the mark. The answer, of course, is for the military to accept people as they are.
