And second guessing the guy who got within 3 points in a district that the last guy won by double digits.
You could be figuring out how to turn Paul Ryan into a bogeyman instead of taking down the person who is the most effective at resisting trump's agenda.
But you know that's much harder and far less fun
we can do it

(49,387 posts)her removal need to have their loyalty to the party put under examination.
I will never forgive Pelosi for saying "the Impeachment of George W. Bush is OFF the table."
That's the kind of leadership that we do not need.
If she had the spine, courage and guts that her defenders squawk about - Dems would NOT have been set back years.

(49,387 posts)advanced the long term goals of the Democratic Party. Average Americans didnt view impeachment as the nation's number one priority. Remember them because their votes count.
I wouldn't expect a wave of new voters to come flocking to a party in power that put the nation through months of stressful hearings and debates.

(6,904 posts)the more I like her. She is a model of what I admire about the Democratic party.
She is a smart and effective leader. She doesn't abandon her beliefs for short term political advantage. She doesn't lie about where she stands. She believes in our system of government. Most of those denigrating her are the opposite.

(224 posts)The first real challenge he has faced since he won his seat in 1998. Just the fact that he will be challenged should give Sanders and other DEM leaders an opportunity to test how long Ryan will continue to cover for Trump and his misgivings.

(1,124 posts)expectation that any of these Republican leaning districts in Republican leaning states was going to turn Democratic in the first go around. Mid terms are coming up ... focus needs to be on seats previously held by Democrats turning blue again.
Let Mueller do his job and 45 will pay in due time. 45 is dirty, everyone with half a brain knows it and if we give Pelosi a majority in the house his goose is cooked.
Focus on 2018 and make these mealy mouth, obstructionist Republicans pay a price. Make them own their words, hold them accountable for their votes, counter their lies with facts and force them to spend more money than they ever dreamed of! Keep the Democratic senators up for re-election in their seats and hope to gain 2 seats. Turn the House blue!

(57 posts)Why are we talking about pillorying Pelosi?
Where are the protest organizers?
Why aren't we scheduling demonstrations in front of the Senate and at GOP senator's home offices and the streets of D.C. and every major city in America?
The only time they recoil in horror is when demonstrators show up with pitchforks and torches!

(81,267 posts)Gotta keep up the resolve.
It's not easy sometimes. Besides, this new era has already showed itself to be so grim that our side needs a significant morale booster. I didn't want to wait till 2018. I still don't want to wait till 2018.

(30,741 posts)Get someone to primary him. It could be a Democrat who registers as a repubbie and challenges him. Even if it is a token resistance, keep him off balance and make him spend his money in the primary. Maybe some Democrats would be willing to pull repubbie ballots in the primary and vote for the challenger.
Then, the candidate who has announced already that he is going to run against him can hit him before and during the general election and show Ryan as the villain he is.
Let's have some dirty tricks and some hard campaigning of our own!

We are really not the home of the brave you know. Not when so many shit themselves when we get hit in the nose.
Yet we are the most heavily armed nation on the planet.
People vote their fear, the majority are not rich enough where tax breaks mean anything.

I can find fault with all three but that does not mean they are all equally bad. It's obvious to me that the only viable and humane option is the Democratic Party. I volunteer with and help organize the local party. I contribute monetarily according to my means. I hope that my efforts make the Democratic Party a little better and suggest that for each person who joins in this work, our imperfect party will become a little better and stronger.
I view the other two options with equal contempt.

"Moulton, frustrated with party leaders, endorses 8 veterans in House races.
We need more service-driven leaders who are prepared to put country over party and people over politics, Moulton said. The Democratic Party needs a new generation of leadership - one focused on the future.
