Democratic Rep. KATHLEEN RICE ( an established misogynist btw.. )
A small group of House Democrats are publicly saying it's time for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to step aside as the face of the party ahead of the 2018 midterms following Tuesday night's disappointing loss in a special election for a Georgia House seat.
"We need leadership change," New York Democratic Rep. KATHLEEN RICE told CNN outside the House chamber. "It's time for Nancy Pelosi to go, and the entire leadership team."
A Rice spokesman clarified to CNN that the congresswoman was referring to the top three leadership positions: minority leader, Democratic whip, and assistant Democratic leader. Pelosi, Steny Hoyer of Maryland and Jim Clyburn of South Carolina were elected in November to those positions for the current session of Congress.
The moderate New York Democrat said she had talked to a number of House Democrats since last night's defeat and some expressed concerns about keeping the same leadership team. She said she is not interested in running for Pelosi's post or other leadership posts, but said there are discussions among some Democrats about next steps.

(86,005 posts)She didn't call for Pelosi's immediate ouster, but said that she hopes Pelosi will ultimately decide not to run for another term as the top Democratic leader in the next Congress and several others emerge as alternatives to lead the caucus.
"There are about a handful of people who are now seriously considering it," Rice said.
Rice has been a vocal critic of Pelosi's since the 2016 election and was supportive in the fall when Ohio Democratic Rep. Tim Ryan challenged her for the top leadership position. Ryan lost that internal election, receiving only 63 votes from the 194 members.
...this is part an parcel of an orchestrated campaign against Democratic women. Pointing to one woman who was part of that pitiful attempt to vote Rep. Pelosi out in 2016 does not change that fact.
So, here you stand, shitstirring along with the right wing against our popular Democratic leader. You bear responsibility for your own efforts here, not CNN or Rice.

(9,350 posts)The subject VKKV posted about is real news. This is not something VKKV just made up. There are a number of articles claiming that multiple Democrats in Congress are suggesting that Nancy Pelosi should be out as the Democratic leader in the House of Representatives. If VKKV had refused to post this information the refusal to post the information would not have erased the fact that some in the Democratic Party are calling for Pelosi to resign as leader of the party in the House of Representatives.
bigtree
(86,005 posts)...it's an orchestrated campaign top drive wedges between Democrats, apparently adopted by dense Democrats who think it's good politics to bash our Democratic leader in the aftermath, not anyone else in the party, just her.
Just coincidence.

(9,350 posts)There are other people including men who are mentioned in other articles. In addition, I think the CNN article included at least one man who was calling for Nancy Pelosi to lose her leadership position. Furthermore, the push for Nancy Pelosi to give up her leadership position is not new. It has been going on for years. Nancy Pelosi is not as popular in Washington, D.C. as she is outside Washington, D.C.
Some people have been quietly calling on to Pelosi be replaced as early as 2008. There are some in Washington, D.C. who think she is too heavy handed with her leadership. Some think she tries to force her members to cast votes that are bad for their political careers. Now, the idea that Pelosi is heavy handed in her leadership might stem from misogyny, but reporting on the idea that some Democrats want her to step down from her leadership position in not misogyny.

(18,402 posts)It says "a small group" is saying she should leave. And it quotes mostly one representative (with a second getting a quick line in). There are 193 Democratic members of the House.
There are indubitably some who fear that, like Ossoff, they will be branded by Republicans with the bogey-man (er, woman) "Pelosi" meme. They're obviously more interested in Republican narratives than those of our party.
We lose when we work from a position of fear that some other contingency has magical powers, and lose sight of our own brand. The Republicans didn't do that during their losses of the Obama years. They doubled down and held their positions. But every time some close election is lost, we seem to go running like little scared mice.

(13,081 posts)Time for a new "spokesmodel" or whatever.
And God knows I'm no giant fan of much anything mainstream, including my liberal politicians, Pelosi has A) done a good job, B) has nothing to do with GA's 06, and C) makes Democrats look weak in the minds of many voters.
Republicans would double down on the situation and start airing adds with Pelosi front and center. That's what Republicans would do, and Republicans might be assholes who can't govern, but they seem to be good at winning elections.

(13,081 posts)There are an awful lot of swing voters who base their decisions purely on their perception of strength. Donald Trump, for instance, is exactly what a weak man thinks a strong man looks like.
Some of that's misogyny, but our female representatives weren't getting their votes anyway, not unless the woman has an R after her name.
Switching faces for no good reason? Like losing GA 06 closely, in the same percentage the primaries were? Massive achievement. Changing our Pelosi now makes us look weak and scared, not to mention empower the conservative bullies.

(92,403 posts)since the vote didn't go their way, and they are unhappy about that, they want to scape goat Pelosi, thinking that they can get their way, instead of respecting the vote, and waiting until the vote comes up in the next session. (92,403 posts)with that perhaps because her candidate did not win those votes for house minority leader.
The House Democrats will determine who will lead them, but representative Rice thinks it is cool to go through the MSM, and use Pelosi as a scape goat to lay the Democratic problems on Pelosi. I have a problem with that for multiple reasons, not the least that this gives the Pelosi hating right wing an opportunity to sow divisions among Democrats, that our illustrious media is only too willing to exploit like they did throughout 2016 with their double standard coverage.
As for someone characterizing this as misogyny, I don't know who said that or where that came from, but it never came from me

(9,350 posts)Can a woman really be a misogynist? How is Kathleen Rice a misogynist? What has she said or done, other than call for Nancy Pelosi to lose her leadership position, that proves that she is strongly biased against women? In addition, if a woman can actually be a misogynist, why would Kathleen Rice be a Democrat if she were actually a misogynist?
