Our Enemies Don't Care

Our nation has many enemies.

Our enemies don’t care if our elections are hacked, interfered with, or tampered with in any way. Neither do Republicans.

Our enemies don’t care if American citizens can’t vote due to voter surpression. Neither do Republicans.

Our enemies don’t care if Americans die due to not having affordable healthcare coverage. Neither do Republicans.

Our enemies don’t care if our children can’t get a decent education due to lack of appropriate funding. Neither do Republicans.

Our enemies don’t care if our future scientists and doctors can’t afford the college education they need to pursue their career choices. Neither do Republicans.

Our enemies don’t care if American women can’t access birth control or exercise their right to an abortion. Neither do Republicans.

Our enemies don’t care if the “pResident” appoints incompetent people to positions of power and influence. Neither do Republicans.

Our enemies don’t care if the “pResident” hands over highly classified information to our adversaries. Neither do Republicans.

Our enemies don’t care if we maintain solid, mutually-respectful relationships with our global allies. Neither do Republicans.

Our enemies don’t care if we ignore climate change, or pollute our own air and water. Neither do Republicans.

Our enemies don’t care if our middle-class is crushed by the heaviest tax burden, while wealthy individuals and corporations get subsidies and tax-breaks. Neither do Republicans.

Our enemies don’t care if some US citizens go hungry or homeless. Neither do Republicans.

Our enemies don’t care if our veterans go without medical and/or psychological treatment when they return from fighting for their country. Neither do Republicans.

Our enemies don’t care if we treat our fellow countrymen like second-class citizens because of their race, ethnicity, gender, sexual persuasion, or religious beliefs. Neither do Republicans.

I don’t know about the rest of you – but I’m having a really hard time differentiating between our nation’s enemies and Republicans. They seem to be on the same page, right down the line.

NOT CARING if Americans die because they can't afford healthcare, NOT CARING if Americans go hungry or homeless, NOT CARING if some Americans are treated like second-class citizens is NOT a "political view" - it is what it is: NOT CARING. NOT CARING about the citizenry, NOT CARING about who suffers or dies, NOT CARING that the reins of leadership have been handed over to an incompetent idiot.

Dismissing a complete disregard for our country's well-being or that of its populace as merely a "different political view" is beyond reprehensible. It's like calling Hitler's "final solution" merely a different political viewpoint as to how to deal with Jews.

Fri Jun 23, 2017, 10:49 PM
Jun 2017

Republicans think Obamacare is causing Americans to lose healthcare, and that it needs to be fixed. That's what they are told by Fox News and the radio shows that they listen to.

They think that by repealing Obamacare and replacing it with something else, then they are actually helping to make health care better.

They believe that they do care about the citizenry and that it's Democrats who don't care.

This is generally what average, uninformed/misinformed Republicans believe.

Making a comparison to Hitler's final solution is grotesque and wrong.

... about gutting social security, Medicaid, Medicare, food stamps, welfare, etc. - along with under-funding education and scientific research. It's not like the GOP came up with this shit yesterday.

People who allegedly "care about the citizenry" obviously didn't care about those who would suffer, or even die, without those safety nets.

I'm tired of my country being held hostage by people who are too stupid to change the channel, or claim ignorance of what 's going on in their own country because Kim Kardashian didn't mention it.

We live in the age of the internet, where facts are readily available with the click of a mouse. Ignorance is no excuse.

I know a lot of good people who are Republicans. I do my best to convince them of the error of their ways. Most of them do support Medicaid and Medicare. In fact, the Republicans in the Senate are making a point of trying to tell people that those programs won't be negatively impacted. A lie, to be sure, but a lie that shows that most people (even Republicans) support those programs.

Put your hands in the muck like I do. Spend 20 to 30 minutes. Read a few articles. Read the comments. See the contempt they have for us here at DU. See that they don't consider us Americans. See that they call us DUmmies, and Dhimmis. See them call us traitors. The open hostility, the racism.
Look up their views of Diamond Reynolds. She saw her boyfriend shot by a cop and stayed calm with the murderer inches from her face, ready to kill her for the slightest mistake she made. They are disgusted by her. They make jokes about cultural appropriation because she has blond hair. They call her Dumb-Ass Diamond.
That's the differing view of politics you're talking about. We are so far apart from that mindset that they might as well be another species from us. You'll see that everything in the OP is accurate as hell. And you'll understand that it can't just be reasoned away. That mindset needs to be utterly obliterated for the country to survive.

I can maybe try to look up some statements from people. I am pretty confident there are such voters.

My suggestion is to start by not demonizing Republicans and to instead view them the way that I describe, as people who are either uninformed or ill informed and to start from there.

Of course there are some "deplorables" among the Republican crowd, but, as Hillary Clinton said, there is another basket of them who are not that way.

I don't think Reid, Maddow, and O'Donnell are reaching Republicans. I think their shows are geared towards liberals like us who already agree with them.

I am always heartened when a Chris Wallace or a Shep Smith says something moderately reasonable on Fox News. That has a better chance of getting these folks to reconsider their views a little.

We want a war here there everywhere! Iran, Iraq, Syrian, Afghanistan, They Want to fight everywhere.
For those Wars they need healthy Bodies to Fight!!
So they Want to Cut Health and Medicare and Every one who could be able to Fight, Crap Coverage so we have
a Weak Fighting force. Who are they really Working For ??
If you want a Strong Fighting Force , you should have a Healthy Program that Grows the Citizens Strength and populace.
To have a Awesome Base to do this.
But no!!
They
Starve the nation to give to Wealthy and make us Scared and weak to fight for them.
The one of the most Important Fight is Cyber wars Russia Shutting down every System in the Ukraine.
They are Killing each other and we Are cutting Pell grants and student loans who in the future to fight this!!
Why who are they working for?? Russia already tested our network and was Successful.
