The population will not be terrorized, not be terrorized, not be terrorized.......

Apologies to the memory of Gil Scott-Heron

I was Brussels yesterday, and departed from Brussel Centraal, where, a few days ago, a wannabe suicide bomber got himself shot without hurting anyone else. There were the usual cops and soldiers around, as there have been since the airport and subway bombings of last year. But there were no barricades, no extra security to go through, no lack of passengers, frightened off by one more religious whack job thinking Allah wanted him to cause some misery. Just another routine day in Sprout City.

One of the leaders of the cell that was carrying out some of the worst terror acts in France in Belgium (before he was killed 2 years ago) said they would always prevail because where we loved life, they loved death. Well, this time, anyway, everybody got what they wanted. There was no change at all in Brussels from the week before--just one less loser to worry about. We all know the next one will show up sooner or later.

to terrorism. We live out of the city, but if it came here I'd feel obliged to drive in for an nice day of lunch and shopping with my daughter-in-law, who's always up for it.

"Yeah, so?"

That mas to be more infuriating to the bad guys than sending a brigade of SWAT teams to their neighborhood.
