In light of the WaPo article, I started to think that perhaps what many attributed to a crazy man's rants was a carefully calculated strategy:
"They (Obama admin) also worried that any action they took would be perceived as political interference in an already volatile campaign. By August, Trump was predicting that the election would be rigged. Obama officials feared providing fuel to such claims, playing into Russias efforts to discredit the outcome and potentially contaminating the expected Clinton triumph."

So if Trump and Assoc. were colluding with Russia...having T claim the election was rigged could have been a very effective strategy. Maybe his advisors were telling him to say that.. I don't see anything to indicate that T is a strategic thinker.
We already know that Kris Kobach of Interstate Crosscheck fame, who worked closely on his campaign, was preaching massive voter fraud which T believed. So he could have been just saying it because he believed it. Regardless, it played right into Putin's hands.

(15,682 posts)that he asked Russia to hack Hillary's email? It was during a debate. I don't recall which one or what month. He was clearly in on it at that time, though. But I think it was a slip on his part. You know, running at the mouth, wanting so badly to brag about how his Russians friends but not being allowed to.

(36,108 posts)Russia, if youre listening, I hope youre able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing, Mr. Trump said during a news conference here in an apparent reference to Mrs. Clintons deleted emails. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.

(15,682 posts)Well I had event and timeline completely wrong, didn't I? But it doesn't change my point. They were already helping him. He was already aware, imo. That was an example of a kid in a candy shop, with 4 or 5 bags off candy already in his grips and having been told to behave. But he couldn't. He wanted everyone to know he got the candy, not Hillary. Russia was helping him.

It's an autocrat's trick. Accuse your opponent of the horrible things you are doing. If you accuse first it's harder for others to then point out you doing the same thing.

A narcissist loves to let all the props and plebs (i.e. The rest of the world) know that he's extra smart, in the know, more powerful, more connected than those silly little Non Player Characters. They do this by dropping hints, dropping names and showing off.
But narcissists are also intensely paranoid, because deep down, they know they're a sham, and they fear more than anything that all the cardboard people, whose attention they desperately need, will wake up, become real people, and know the truth. This usually manifests as projection -- they accuse everyone else of doing what they are doing (or want to do), or committing the crimes they are committing. Narcissist paranoia is a real life example of that old saw about the rudeness of pointing: when you point at something, three fingers point back at you. When a narcissist is pointing, look closely at what he's pointing at, then examine his person for that exact situation.
