Trumps approval rating is shooting up! ?

according to https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/trump-approval-ratings/

38.4 3 days ago.
39.8 today

The lowest was 38.0
Seems like this is never going to drop much lower.
Somehow the Republicans, no matter how horrible they perform, remain solid with much of the country.

The Trump effect, the public ignoring things that would destroy any other politician's career instantly, seems to be a permanent aspect of America now.

That turns out to have not been an exaggeration.

3. But how many of his supporters are core, and how many will ultimately turn on him?

CBS tracker poll has interesting take, where divides the electorate into four groups and polls them every few months. Last one was back in may. Core supporters (called believers) are about 20% of the electorate and are digging in. Another 22% are conditional supports, they are still waiting to see what he will do, and they are getting impatient.

4. Yep - that's one thing Trump got right. Another: the fake news mantra.

Between the two, he's got his base tighter than a drum with him still.

I've been arguing with them for a year and a half now and they've willfully blinded themselves. Sycophants.

His polling will likely have a floor in the high 30's. There are his rabid supporters, and there are those who don't pay attention until something bad happens to them or people they know.

6. It was ridiculous to believe it would continue to tumble

I posted that a few weeks ago, when there were assertions it would drop toward 30.

Never be a Happy Adjuster. That's a person who takes the most recent trend and projects to the extreme, with zero concept of foundational logic. Happy Adjusters make something whatever they want it to be, not what makes sense.

Trump is in the very early stages of his presidency. Therefore members of his own party aren't willing to desert him. Just the opposite. When approval ratings free fall it is in chaos stage late in a presidency, when members of his own party are desperate to replace him as face of the party.

None of that applies here. Trump inherited an accelerating economy thanks to Obama, and the stock market is in record territory. That stuff equates to benefit of a doubt. Most likely the approval rating will begin to rebound well into the 40s.
