"the Democrats are simply limousine Democrats and that the party is in the hands of Wall St." Well my guess is that it would change if he and persons like him would simply stop repeating this type of bullshit.
As a black woman, I'm sick and tired of this particular black Harvard Professor making comments like this while never having acknowledged the active role he played in Hillary's defeat with bullshit statements like this, running up to the election. There he was in the run up to the election, on Morning Joe constantly berating Hillary and questioning what the Clintons had done for black people and encouraging black people to not vote for her. The Morning Joe crew just ate that type of bullshit up, particularly coming from a black man, and he's still there with his rhetorical bullshit spouting his same bullshit as if he played no role in her defeat. In fact, I would say that he played a HUUUUGE role in damaging the Clintons and now asking Franklin what can the party do so we don't look so much like Wall St Democrats is so disengenuous.
Well for one thing you can stop reciting the same lame bullshit over and over again. No one is calling him a 'limousine Harvard Professor' based on the success he has attained so he needs to stop feigning innocent as if he had nothing to do with Hillary's loss, when he and others like him were out there encouraging party members to vote 3rd party and implying that we would be no worse off than with a Republican or 3rd party candidates.

(18,402 posts)Over the past year or so, people supposedly on "our side" are criticizing the party for being either too much "in the hands of Wall Street" and/or too much in the thrall of "identity politics" (a veiled way of saying there's too much focus on issues of race, gender, and other social factors). Something's gotta be wrong there.
This myth being promulgated about the Democratic party is that it's all limousine liberals/Wall Street on the one hand and at the same time inconveniently all about minorities and irksome gender issues.
You're right: these baseless stereotypes only serve to prop up Republicans and third parties. It's not constructive. But then Glaude is part of the West/Smiley entitled elite, who probably have more invested in Wall Street and limousines than the average Democrat.

(62,422 posts)that it is nearly impossible in this country to find news that in some way doesn't throw a negative light on Dems.
Almost everyday on this forum I see somebody say "the Dems have lousy messaging." What a load. Our messages are good, but the media in this country is 99% right wing. They refuse to carry any messages other than paid ads for Dems while at the same time acting as an echo chamber for whatever crazy talking point of the day the right is spewing.
So, yep, apparently Mr. Eddie Glaude, Jr. has done his service and once more shed undeserved negative light on the Democrats for the corporate master in the guise of delving into a question.
OUR CORPORATE MEDIA STINKS AND HAS RUINED THIS COUNTRY.

(1,663 posts)This a thousand times. "Limousine liberals", indeed! They've just elected a billionaire who literally lives in a golden jewelry box and believes that poor people don't belong in his cabinet. We are the ones who are out of touch? Give me a break, brother.

(2,949 posts)What was the message he delivered to the people of America? Think about it. You don't have to be truthful to win, you just have to tell the voters what they want to hear.
And that my friends, is why Democrats cannot win elections.
