Kushner adds powerhouse lawyer Abbe Lowell to legal team
Jared Kushner has hired Abbe Lowell, one of the country's leading criminal defense lawyers, to represent him in the special counsel's probe of potential Russian collusion with the Trump campaign and his financial dealings, as well as in separate congressional inquiries.
But Kushner has also decided to keep Jamie Gorelick, his current lawyer and a WilmerHale partner, on his legal team, a spokesman said in response to questions. Some close to Kushner have raised questions about Gorelick remaining on his team because Bob Mueller, the special counsel, was previously a partner at WilmerHale.

(42,714 posts)First, he wins a lot of his cases, so I'm not sure why you'd be happy that he was hired to defend Kushner.
Second, not everyone he represents is guilty. Unless you think Bill Clinton was guilty and should've been impeached (Lowell was hired to be Chief Counsel for the Democrats on the Judiciary Committee when they were considering impeachment against Clinton). He also represented Sean Combs who was accused by a right wing group of violating election laws by running a get out the vote effort to support John Kerry. The FEC dismissed the charges.
While everyone is entitled to a defense, and I think Kushner is guilty as hell of various legal infractions, having Lowell and Gorelick defending him increases the chances he will get off.
