Trump or one of his many surrogates what happens to my wife and myself who are in the 60-65 year old low income what will we do when the healthcare subsidies we have now go away. Since we would not be able to BUY insurance without them we could not see a doctor to get prescriptions for diabetic medication as well as some others. Who will provide these prescriptions who will provide the medication ? Without these esp. the diabetes meds my wife surely die. Where do we go? Medicaid , Medicare , emergency room ? Please explain for me.

(12,412 posts)WHY THE FUCK DID YOU PROMISE NO ONE WOULD LOSE INSURANCE AND MEDICARE WOULD NOT BE TOUCHED?

(25,862 posts)you planned very badly by getting diabetes, and not getting a better paid job. You should simply get some job that has good health care.
They don't give a flying fuck that you are in your situation because as far as they're concerned, it's all your fault.
They have zero compassion, zero sympathy for anyone not wealthy.
You do have my sympathies. We all have control over some things, little or no control over others. Civilized nations treat their citizens with dignity and respect, and that includes seeing that they have decent health care.
A partially sensible answer to your question is that you can go to the ER in a health crisis. If the hospital accepts any federal funding at all (generally in the form of taking Medicare/Medicaid) they are obligated to treat you. But they are only obligated to stabilizes you, and then can cut you loose. It's marginally better than nothing at all.
Again, my sympathies.

(10,624 posts)She said people should just get jobs. Then they would be covered.
Their heartlessness is breathtaking.

(10,624 posts)my Mom.
It was a lot of paperwork and hassle, but we were able to get some of her prescriptions for free - including some of the more expensive forms of insulin that she needed.
It's a shame that we should be reduced to asking corporations for charity, but it's worth looking into.

(23,322 posts)I too wish someone would ask those hard questions!! There is so much at stake. If this horrific legislation passes, some of us will not survive it. Please write your Senator. I'm writing too. Find their local office and go camp out until they either show up or a staff member writes down your concern. If they mistreat you, call your local paper or tv news to report it. My family will not have insurance either if this goes down. The tumor that was removed from my child's head will surely be a pre-existing condition. Let's keep making noise. We all have so much to lose. Please don't lose hope, yet.
